The Halloween costume party officially begins tonight (October 31st), but many young people in Ho Chi Minh City have already prepared unique costumes to go out and celebrate early. According to observations by a Dan Tri reporter, on the evening of October 30th, the atmosphere on Bui Vien Street (the "Western Street") became lively, with crowds of people flocking to the area to celebrate. Located in the heart of District 1, Bui Vien Street is a familiar destination for tourists and young people in Ho Chi Minh City every Halloween. Besides eating and having fun, young people can also experience and immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the biggest costume party of the year. The most spectacular performance was the traditional Chằn dance, infused with a touch of Halloween's spooky atmosphere. Chằn is a villain, representing the evil side, with a ferocious face, clad in full armor, and walking with an arrogant gait. Influenced by Indian culture, the Khmer people of Southern Vietnam call Chằn Yeak, a character symbolizing evil and wickedness, who brings misfortune to people. At night, the number of people flocking to Bui Vien Street (the "Western Street") increases even more. Some families take advantage of the opportunity to bring their children out to play before the holiday to avoid the crowds. Ahead of Halloween, restaurants and bars on Bui Vien Street, a popular tourist area, are decorating with spooky images to attract customers. Labubu, an art toy character that's currently trending among young people, is also being used by restaurants and bars to decorate Bui Vien Street in the Western Quarter. Every corner of the bar was decorated in a spooky style, perfectly capturing the spirit of Halloween. Eerie lighting, pumpkins, skulls, walls covered in spiderwebs, and hanging mannequins further enhanced the eerie atmosphere. In front of alley 148, on Bui Vien Street (the "Western Street"), the area is also meticulously and carefully decorated with spooky and terrifying mannequins. Earlier, around 5 PM, staff at restaurants and bars began carefully adjusting the decorative displays to welcome guests. Visitors have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a spooky festive atmosphere, with many activities that are both fun and have a slightly eerie feel characteristic of Halloween. Many foreign tourists flock to Bui Vien Street, the "Western Street," to capture unique photos thanks to the decorations of the restaurants and bars. "I didn't expect Halloween here to be so spectacular. I'm truly surprised and delighted to be in Vietnam during this holiday," Liam shared. Originating from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, Halloween – also known as the "festival of ghosts and goblins" or "costume festival" – is a traditional festival celebrated annually on October 31st, before All Saints' Day in Western Christianity. Although imported from abroad, Halloween is gradually becoming a popular holiday for many Vietnamese people. Like many other major holidays, Halloween venues attract many people who enjoy mysterious and spooky atmospheres.
