Báo Tổ quốcBáo Tổ quốc12/08/2024

According to information from Hanoi Metro Company Limited, the number of passengers on August 8th was over 34,000; on August 9th, over 52,000; and on August 10th, over 66,000. The peak was on August 11th, when the Nhon - Cau Giay metro line welcomed over 100,000 passengers, bringing the total number of passengers over the past four days to over 250,000.

According to representatives from Hanoi Metro (the unit tasked with operating both the Cat Linh - Ha Dong and Nho Son - Hanoi Station Metro lines), this number has far exceeded all projections and expectations. Previously, at the same time, the Cat Linh - Ha Dong line (the country's first Metro line), on its busiest day (May 1, 2023), only reached over 58,000 passengers.

Previously, at the same time, the Cat Linh - Ha Dong line (the country's first Metro line), on its busiest day (May 1, 2023), only reached over 58,000 passengers.

Notably, the Nhon - Cau Giay section only passes through 8 stations, is 8.5 km long, and its route is only two-thirds the length of the Cat Linh - Ha Dong line. With a shorter route and significantly higher passenger volume, the project demonstrates its effectiveness.

The Nhon - Hanoi Station Metro line (elevated section from Nhon to Cau Giay) achieved a remarkable feat with over 250,000 passengers traveling between August 8th and 11th.

Dr. Vu Hong Truong, General Director of Hanoi Metro, said: "The project was surprised by the appeal of the new Nhon - Cau Giay section. This shows that the Metro is increasingly gaining the attention and trust of the people. On average, at peak times, the Nhon - Cau Giay line welcomes approximately 12,500 passengers per station, with an average of 320.5 passengers per train, and operates safely."

Despite its short length of only 8.5 km, the Nhon - Cau Giay Metro line passes through 11 universities: Hanoi University of Industry; Hanoi University of Commerce; Hanoi Pedagogical University; Academy of Journalism and Communication; University of Transport and Communications; and 6 member universities of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi: University of Foreign Languages; University of Economics ; University of Medicine and Pharmacy; University of Education; and University of Law.

Hanoi residents took advantage of the weekend to experience the Nhon - Cau Giay Metro line.

According to a decision by the Hanoi People's Committee, the fare for a single trip on the railway line is 8,000 VND per station, and 12,000 VND per trip for the entire line. A day pass costs 24,000 VND, valid for one day with no limit on the number of trips. A monthly pass costs 200,000 VND; a preferential rate of 100,000 VND per month is offered to students. Group passes cost 140,000 VND per month. The Nhon – Hanoi Station urban railway line offers free tickets to priority groups including children under 6 years old, war veterans, senior citizens over 60 years old, and people with disabilities.

During our experience along the line, we observed that while the stations were crowded with passengers, the railway staff demonstrated professionalism in managing traffic effectively. Hanoi Metro's leadership was on duty 100% of the time along the line to direct and support the staff.

According to Hanoi Metro, it is expected that from August 12th, the number of passengers using the Nhon - Cau Giay train for commuting to school and work will decrease, while the number of passengers using the train will increase and remain stable.
