“It’s amazing to see the progress of artificial intelligence and how quickly it’s advancing,” Musk said, adding that “AI is advancing so much faster than any human.”

Musk has praised the model's qualities, claiming that if it took the SAT, it would get a perfect score every time, and would also outperform most graduate students in every field.

“Grok 4 is smarter than almost all graduate students in every field,” Musk said. “That’s really impressive!”

Musk admitted that the pace of AI development is “scary.” The release of the new model comes a day after Grok 3 made anti-Semitic comments on X, including a post praising Adolf Hitler. The posts were later deleted. Musk’s company xAI, which developed the chatbot, addressed the controversial comments in a statement on July 10.

"We are aware of Grok's recent posts and are actively working to remove inappropriate posts. Since becoming aware of the content, xAI has taken action to prohibit hate speech before Grok posted on X. xAI only trains models that seek truth, and thanks to the millions of users on X, we can quickly identify and update models where training needs to be improved," the company said.

Musk blamed Grok 3's outbursts on shortcomings in the AI's ability to filter human input, writing on X, "Grok was too accommodating to user requests. Too eager to please and manipulative, basically. That's being addressed."
