EVNGENCO1 proposes to invest in a green energy project cluster of nearly 1,500 MW in Lam Dong

At the working session with the People's Committee of Lam Dong province on October 22, the delegation of Power Generation Corporation 1 (EVNGENCO1) presented a proposal to invest in a cluster of green energy projects with a total capacity of nearly 1,500 MW.

According to the proposal of EVNGENCO1, the green energy project cluster in Lam Dong includes four projects: floating solar power on Dai Ninh lake (96MW), Ham Thuan (100MW, phase 1), Da Mi (70MW, phase 2) and Don Duong pumped storage hydropower project (1,200MW). The total investment capital is expected to be about 34,000 billion VND.

Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee leaders worked with EVNGENCO1 on the proposal to invest in a green energy project cluster of nearly 1,500 MW.

The projects aim to supplement clean electricity sources, improve national energy security; effectively utilize the water surface of existing hydroelectric reservoirs; and at the same time contribute to promoting local socio -economic development, creating jobs, increasing budget revenue and improving infrastructure in the project area.

This is a specific direction to realize the adjusted Power Plan VIII and the national carbon neutrality strategy that Vietnam has committed to .

Currently , EVNGENCO1 has completed the investment proposal dossier according to the provisions of the Investment Law and sent it to Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee for consideration.

At the meeting, the Corporation proposed that the province support investment promotion, especially in terms of policies, land, compensation, site clearance and document appraisal.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen acknowledged and highly appreciated the capacity and experience of EVNGENCO1 in the field of power source development, especially large-scale hydropower projects that have been operating stably and effectively in the province.

The Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee affirmed that investing in renewable energy projects associated with the existing hydroelectric reservoir system is the right direction, in line with Lam Dong province's policy of developing green energy.

The province will assign departments and branches to coordinate with EVNGENCO1 to review and provide specific instructions on procedures, ensure compliance with legal regulations and create favorable conditions for investors to soon implement the project when qualified.

EVNGENCO1 is one of three main power generation corporations of EVN, currently managing 7,844.5 MW of power capacity, accounting for about 9% of the total capacity of the national power system. In the coming period, EVNGENCO1 continues to orient the development of renewable energy projects and the application of modern technology to contribute to energy transition, ensuring energy security and sustainable development.
