EVNGENCO1 proposes to invest in a green energy project cluster of nearly 1,500 MW in Lam Dong

At the working session with the People's Committee of Lam Dong province on October 22, the delegation of Power Generation Corporation 1 (EVNGENCO1) presented a proposal to invest in a cluster of green energy projects with a total capacity of nearly 1,500 MW.

According to EVNGENCO1's proposal, the green energy project cluster in Lam Dong includes four projects: floating solar power on Dai Ninh Lake (96MW), Ham Thuan (100MW, phase 1), Da Mi (70MW, phase 2), and the Don Duong pumped storage hydropower project (1,200MW). The total estimated investment is approximately 34,000 billion VND.

Leaders of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee worked with EVNGENCO1 on the proposed investment in a cluster of green energy projects totaling nearly 1,500MW.

These projects aim to supplement clean energy sources, enhance national energy security; effectively utilize the surface water of existing hydropower reservoirs; and contribute to promoting local socio -economic development, creating jobs, increasing budget revenue, and improving infrastructure in the project areas.

This is a concrete direction for realizing the revised Power Development Plan VIII and the national carbon neutrality strategy that Vietnam has committed to .

Currently , EVNGENCO1 has completed its investment proposal dossier in accordance with the Investment Law and submitted it to the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee for consideration.

During the meeting, the Corporation requested the province's support in investment promotion, particularly regarding policies, land, compensation, site clearance, and application review.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen acknowledged and highly appreciated EVNGENCO1's capacity and experience in the field of power source development, especially large-scale hydropower projects that have operated stably and efficiently in the province.

The Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee affirmed that investing in renewable energy projects associated with the existing hydropower reservoir system is the right direction, consistent with Lam Dong province's green energy development policy.

The province will assign relevant departments and agencies to coordinate with EVNGENCO1 to review and provide specific guidance on procedures, ensuring compliance with legal regulations and creating favorable conditions for the investor to promptly implement the project when all conditions are met.

EVNGENCO1 is one of EVN's three key power generation corporations, currently managing 7,844.5 MW of power generation capacity, accounting for approximately 9% of the national power system's total capacity. In the coming period, EVNGENCO1 will continue to focus on developing renewable energy projects and applying modern technologies to contribute to energy transition, ensure energy security, and promote sustainable development.
