The first round starts from “exit 0”, the rules of the game seem very simple: Do not ignore anything unusual in the corridor of each exit. If you find anything wrong, immediately turn around. If you see nothing change, just keep going. But just one moment of negligence, the player will immediately return to the starting point. In the middle of the endless maze with hallucinations, can the guy win and return to reality?

Watching “Exit 8: Infinite Train Station”, the audience also becomes a player and can interact with the movie, excitedly finding the differences with the characters in the endless corridor, while at the same time, watching the complex “psychological battle” taking place on the screen.

Director Genki Kawamura said, “Exit 8: Infinite Train Station” is made in a bold and unconventional style, set in a familiar setting to most people in Tokyo (Japan) - underground tunnels.

The image of a train station corridor that repeats itself over and over again without a way out is a metaphor for the cycle of life: “We all go through days that seem meaningless, while still encountering small signs that something is wrong. Those seemingly small pieces reflect a deeper reality. Will we ignore it and continue to be lost in a world with no way out? Or will we see the abnormality and move towards the light? Whether consciously or not, it is a choice we face every day. That white corridor can be a place to practice the ability to face ourselves.”

Director Genki Kawamura is also known as a producer and writer. In 2012, he published the novel “If Cats Disappeared from the World” – a work that became a global phenomenon, selling over 2 million copies and translated into 32 languages.

As a producer, he has participated in making many famous films such as “Your Name” (2016), “Suzume” (2022), “Monster” (2023)... His first film “A Hundred Flowers” was adapted from his own novel, won the Silver Shell Award for Best Director at the 2022 San Sebastian Film Festival. “Exit 8: The Endless Train Station” is his second film, which was just released in the Midnight Screening category - Official Selection at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.
