According to the latest report from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tay Ninh province, over the past two weeks, heavy rains and floodwaters from upstream have caused many canals, ditches, and rice fields in Tay Ninh and neighboring provinces to rise, resulting in widespread and deep flooding. Many low-lying residential areas have been partially isolated, and residents have had to mobilize all available means to reinforce their properties and strengthen embankments.

Initial statistics show that over 2,200 hectares of rice fields were severely flooded, with nearly 1,000 hectares completely destroyed. Besides rice, significant damage also occurred to vegetable crops, fruit trees, and aquaculture. Production was disrupted, while the prices of animal feed and agricultural supplies increased, further exacerbating farmers' difficulties. As of November 4th, the estimated damage from prolonged heavy rains combined with rising upstream floods in the Dong Thap Muoi area exceeded 38.4 billion VND. The total damage from the natural disaster is estimated at over 61 billion VND.

In response, local authorities in the province have established emergency response teams to assist residents in reinforcing their houses, transporting supplies, and erecting dikes to protect residential areas. Many landslide-prone areas and deeply flooded roads have been marked with warning signs and traffic control personnel have been deployed.

The agricultural sector is guiding people to harvest salvageable crops early, while preparing seeds, supplies, and plans for restoring production after the floodwaters recede. For areas completely destroyed, localities are compiling statistics to implement policies to compensate for losses according to regulations.

Medical personnel intensified efforts to raise awareness about disease prevention after the floods, provided clean water and disinfectant tablets, and assisted residents in treating their drinking water sources. Organizations, associations, and philanthropists also actively donated essential supplies, life jackets, and flashlights to help people in flooded areas stabilize their lives in the immediate future.

Rain may continue locally, and floodwaters are receding slowly in many low-lying areas. The meteorological agency advises people to closely monitor weather forecasts, limit travel through deeply flooded areas, and proactively protect their property and livestock.

Given the increasingly complex and extreme weather patterns compared to the same period last year, Tay Ninh province has identified its urgent tasks as ensuring the safety of people's lives, quickly restoring production, stabilizing livelihoods, and simultaneously investing in upgrading irrigation systems, strengthening early warning systems, and enhancing resilience to natural disasters in the future.
