According to a report from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, this year's rice crop saw the total planted area in the province exceed the planned target, reaching over 101%. Currently, the rice crops have begun to enter the flowering stage.

Nearly 3,000 hectares of rice fields are infected with brown spot disease.

Farmers in Huong Non commune, Tam Nong district, spray pesticides to control pests and diseases affecting the rice crop.

However, due to the nature of the main cropping season and the impact of natural disasters, many localities are currently experiencing crop diseases and pests, with the most severe being brown spot disease affecting nearly 3,000 hectares; physiological diseases affecting over 460 hectares; bacterial stripe disease affecting nearly 96 hectares; bacterial blight affecting approximately 120 hectares; rat damage affecting nearly 380 hectares; and various types of planthoppers and leaf-rolling caterpillars affecting about 176 hectares... In addition, brown spot disease is also damaging over 300 hectares of main cropping corn.

Given the widespread pest and disease outbreaks affecting crops during the rainy season, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection has coordinated with local authorities to organize control measures. To date, over 1,200 hectares have been controlled for rice blast disease, 88 hectares for physiological diseases; and all areas affected by bacterial stripe, small leaf-rolling caterpillars, various types of aphids, etc. Simultaneously, the Department has directed the Crop Production and Plant Protection Stations in the districts to coordinate with local authorities to organize concentrated rodent control efforts to protect crops.

To protect production results, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development recommends that localities focus on properly caring for the planted rice and other crops; maintain sufficient water in rice fields from now until the rice ripens; closely monitor weather conditions and proactively implement drainage measures when heavy rains occur. Strengthen field inspections to detect and effectively control pests and diseases affecting the rice crop, ensuring production safety. Pay particular attention to pests and diseases such as: various types of planthoppers, bacterial leaf blight, and two-spotted stem borer in late-heading rice fields...
