In localities such as An Giang and Hau Giang , new rice transactions were low and rice prices increased slightly. In Hau Giang, autumn-winter rice transactions were stable and autumn-winter rice prices slowed down. In Can Tho, new rice transactions were slow and prices were stable.

Update from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province said that today's rice price has been adjusted compared to yesterday, IR 50404 is priced at 7,300 - 7,500 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 rice is priced at 8,000 - 8,200 VND/kg, up 100 VND/kg; OM 5451 rice is priced at 7,600 - 7,900 VND/kg; OM 18 rice is priced at 7,800 - 8,000 VND/kg, down 100 - 200 VND/kg; OM 380 fluctuates at 7,600 - 7,800 VND/kg; Japanese rice is at 7,800 - 8,000 VND/kg and Nang Nhen rice (dry) is at 20,000 VND/kg.

Besides, the glutinous rice market remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Long An IR 4625 glutinous rice (dry) was 9,800 - 9,900 VND/kg, stable compared to yesterday. Long An 3-month glutinous rice (dry) was 9,800 - 10,000 VND/kg, unchanged compared to yesterday.

In An Cu (Soc Trang), warehouses and markets are buying regularly, good rice is selected, prices are stable.

In the rice market, rice prices have been adjusted compared to yesterday. Currently, IR 504 Summer-Autumn raw rice is at 10,850 - 10,900 VND/kg, an increase of 100 - 150 VND/kg; IR 504 finished rice is at 13,000 - 13,200 VND/kg, an increase of 100 VND/kg.

For by-products, the price of by-products of all kinds fluctuates between 6,000 - 8,800 VND/kg. Currently, the price of OM 5451 broken rice is at 8,600 - 8,800 VND/kg; the price of dry bran is at 6,000 - 6,100 VND/kg, down 100 VND/kg.

At retail markets, rice prices have not been adjusted for individual rice products. Currently, Nang Nhen rice has the highest listed price of VND28,000/kg; Jasmine rice is VND18,000 - 20,000/kg; Nang Hoa rice is VND20,000/kg; regular rice fluctuates around VND15,000 - 16,000/kg; long-grain fragrant rice is VND20,000 - 21,000/kg; Jasmine rice is VND20,000/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice is VND21,000/kg; common white rice is VND17,000/kg; regular Soc rice is VND18,000 - 18,500/kg; Thai Soc rice is VND21,000/kg; Japanese rice is VND22,000/kg.

In the export market, Vietnam's rice export prices recorded an adjustment compared to yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), 100% broken rice was at 455 USD/ton, up 3 USD; 5% standard rice was at 565 USD/ton, up 2 USD; 25% broken rice was at 535 USD/ton, up 2 USD.

According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, in the first 8 months of the year, rice exports reached more than 6.15 million tons, bringing in 3.85 billion USD. Compared to the same period last year, it increased by 5.8% in volume and 21.7% in value. Rice exports increased slightly in volume but increased sharply in value due to the average export price of rice increasing by 14.8% compared to the same period in 2023, to 625 USD/ton.

The top main export markets for Vietnamese rice are: Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and China. In the first 8 months of 2024, Vietnam's rice exports to Indonesia reached 913,888 thousand tons, worth 557.77 million USD, compared to the same period in 2023, an increase of 27.26% in volume and 54.40% in value, accounting for 14.85% of the country's total rice exports.

In the first 8 months of 2024, rice exports to the Malaysian market reached 582,872 thousand tons, worth 346 million USD, an increase of 2.12 times in volume and 2.53 times in value over the same period last year.
