Rice prices remained stable in many localities today.

Today, December 12, 2025, rice prices in the Mekong Delta region remain relatively stable. According to updates from the An Giang agricultural sector, the price of fresh IR 50404 paddy is fluctuating between 5,200–5,400 VND/kg. Fresh OM 5451 paddy is being purchased at 5,500–5,600 VND/kg, while fresh OM 34 paddy is commonly priced at 5,200–5,400 VND/kg.

Several high-quality rice varieties continue to maintain good prices. Fresh Dai Thom 8 rice and fresh OM 18 rice are both trading around 6,400–6,600 VND/kg, almost unchanged from the previous day.

In many localities, the amount of fresh rice remaining on the market is not large. Trading activity is slow, and prices remain stable. In An Giang , farmers tend to maintain high prices while traders are cautious, offering lower prices.

In Ca Mau , ST rice, mainly ST25, continues to be offered fairly consistently at relatively stable prices. In Can Tho, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, and Tay Ninh, trading remains sluggish, with prices showing no significant changes.

Prices of raw rice for export have seen slight fluctuations. OM 5451 rice decreased by approximately 100 VND/kg, trading around 8,150–8,300 VND/kg. Soc Thom rice fluctuated between 7,500–7,600 VND/kg, while IR 504 rice was commonly priced at 7,550–7,650 VND/kg. CL 555 rice remained at 7,340–7,450 VND/kg, while Dai Thom 8 rice ranged from 8,700–8,900 VND/kg.

Other rice varieties such as OM 380 are purchased at around 7,200–7,300 VND/kg, while OM 18 rice is priced at 8,500–8,600 VND/kg. Finished IR 504 rice maintains its price at 9,500–9,700 VND/kg. By-products such as broken rice OM 5451 fluctuate between 7,400–7,500 VND/kg, and rice bran commonly ranges from 9,000–10,000 VND/kg.

Rice trading at warehouses and wholesale markets continues to be slow. In An Giang, large warehouses are buying cautiously and selectively, with little change in rice prices. In Can Tho, warehouses are still buying fragrant and sticky rice varieties at stable prices.

In areas like Lap Vo, Sa Dec, and An Cu in Dong Thap province, rice prices for all types of rice remained at the same level as yesterday. In retail channels, rice prices today are unchanged compared to yesterday. Nang Nhen rice continues to have the highest price, around 28,000 VND/kg. Common rice is priced at 11,000–12,000 VND/kg, while Huong Lai rice is around 22,000 VND/kg. Long-grain Thai fragrant rice ranges from 20,000–22,000 VND/kg, Jasmine rice from 16,000–18,000 VND/kg, and common white rice is around 16,000 VND/kg.

Rice prices today, December 12, 2025: Exports to China increase sharply.

Export rice prices remain competitive.

On the international market, according to the Vietnam Food Association, the export price of Vietnamese rice remains stable. Fragrant rice with 5% broken grains is trading at around 420–440 USD/ton. 100% broken grains are at 314–318 USD/ton, while Jasmine rice fluctuates between 447–451 USD/ton.

In the first 11 months of 2025, Vietnam exported approximately 7.53 million tons of rice, earning over $3.85 billion. The average export price reached about $511.9 per ton. Compared to the same period in 2024, both volume and value decreased by over 27%, after the previous year recorded a record increase.

The Philippines remains the largest import market with over 3.3 million tons, accounting for more than 40% of total exports, although the volume has decreased significantly. Indonesia ranks second with nearly 988,600 tons. The bright spots are China and Ghana, where rice exports to these two markets have increased sharply, meeting both domestic stockpiling and consumption needs.

According to Mr. Tran Quoc Toan's assessment, the decrease in rice exports to the Philippines is mainly due to the country tightening import controls in the last months of the year, causing the strong buying momentum from the beginning of the year to slow down. In this context, domestic rice prices remain stable today, creating a foundation for the market to move into the next phase.
