According to statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), pepper export turnover in 2024 reached US$1.3 billion, an increase of more than 45% compared to 2023, exceeding the expectations of Vietnamese pepper processing businesses and contributing to bringing pepper back to the list of billion-dollar agricultural export products.
Experts predict that global pepper production will continue to decline in 2025, marking the fourth consecutive year of decrease. This decline reflects the fact that pepper is no longer a staple crop for many farmers, while climate change and extreme weather events reduce yields and increase production costs. However, pepper prices in Vietnam remain stable at around 140,000 - 150,000 VND/kg, thanks to stable demand from major markets such as the US and Europe.
China, despite reducing pepper imports from Vietnam in 2024, faces low inventory levels and is projected to resume purchases after the Lunar New Year, when Vietnam's main harvest begins. Brazil's pepper production is forecast to recover, while Indonesia and India may see reduced output due to weather conditions and investment difficulties, leading many Vietnamese farmers to limit investment in pepper cultivation.

The International Pepper Association (IPC) predicts a positive outlook for the pepper market in the last week of January, with no countries reporting price declines. Indian pepper prices, both domestically and internationally, continued their upward trend from the previous week.
According to the Nam Yang Cooperative (Gia Lai), after learning from experience, instead of choosing to cultivate pepper as a monoculture, people are now focusing on intercropping and polyculture models with coffee and fruit trees.
Developing pepper cultivation through intercropping and polyculture will be sustainable, helping farmers reduce investment costs and limit disease risks, moving towards safe agriculture. Farmers will avoid excessive use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, instead using biological products and organic fertilizers to ensure the longevity of their crops and improve the quality of their pepper products for the global market.
