The application of digital technology and artificial intelligence has been identified by the provincial Department of Education and Training as a crucial solution to improve the quality of education . Therefore, the entire sector has proactively implemented technological solutions to support professional and operational activities.
Digital technology applications
Mr. Dang Hung Cuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, stated: Digital transformation is one of the key tasks of the sector. In recent times, the department has strengthened its guidance and encouraged the proactive application of information technology and digital transformation by educational institutions and individuals in carrying out their assigned tasks. We have also focused on investing in and upgrading information technology infrastructure, deploying shared digital platforms such as school management systems, digital learning resource repositories, and online teaching applications. Simultaneously, the department has closely collaborated with telecommunications and technology companies (VNPT, Viettel , etc.) to build and upgrade digital infrastructure, school management ecosystems, electronic portals, and educational management software. This creates a synchronized and convenient digital environment for both teachers and students.
To effectively achieve digital transformation goals, the Department of Education and Training annually strengthens the Digital Transformation Team, implements plans for applying information technology, exploiting digital platforms, and supporting officials and teachers throughout the sector in information technology. To date, 100% of schools in the province have dedicated staff and core teams in information technology and digital transformation.
A notable achievement in recent times is the implementation of the Education Sector Database System and the Intelligent Education Operations Center (IOC EDU) since the 2021-2022 school year. This system collects and manages standardized information on schools, classrooms, students, teachers, facilities, educational activities, etc., at schools throughout the province. Simultaneously, the system allows for real-time data monitoring, supporting analysis and forecasting of enrollment trends, student placement, learning quality, teacher and classroom needs, equipment needs, etc. To date, 648 schools in the province are using school management software, contributing to the digitalization of management activities and creating a foundation for digital transformation in the education sector.
In addition, since 2022, the Department of Education and Training has developed VNPT Meeting online meeting rooms along with other platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Zoom Cloud Meetings… for units and schools in the province to serve meetings, professional activities, and teaching. Notably, the entire sector has equipped 17,800 digital certificates for officials and teachers to facilitate the digital signing of electronic documents and records such as lesson plans, digital student records, and electronic lesson plans… 100% of schools in the province have implemented cashless payment methods for tuition fees and educational service fees.
Alongside the application of digital technology in management, the application of information technology and artificial intelligence in teaching is also being promoted throughout the entire education sector. In the 2024-2025 school year, the Department of Education and Training piloted the deployment of digital platforms and artificial intelligence applications in teaching at 40 secondary and high schools in the province. The application of artificial intelligence (AI) in teaching and learning is like a breath of fresh air, helping teachers express creative ideas in their lessons, while stimulating students' curiosity and making them more interested in learning.
Ms. Lam Thi Nga, a math teacher at Tam Thanh Secondary School in Tam Thanh Ward, said: "Currently, I am using the Vitanbrain platform in my teaching to help improve students' memorization skills. With this platform, teachers can create sets of questions to review knowledge and assign homework. Besides that, I am also guiding students to use artificial intelligence to create learning websites."
Improving the effectiveness of education
In May 2025, we had the opportunity to visit Tam Thanh Secondary School and observe a Math lesson for class 7A1 on triangular and quadrilateral prisms. The lesson became lively when the teacher checked the students' preparation through a quick quiz on the TV screen. When students answered incorrectly, a virtual assistant would repeat or supplement the knowledge to help them remember. In the main content, the teacher transformed the drawings, illustrative examples, and exercises from the textbook into 3D images and clips, and projected them onto the TV screen in a very vivid and easy-to-understand way, creating an exciting learning atmosphere. To create such engaging learning content, the teacher utilized artificial intelligence in the lesson planning process.
Tran Phan, a student in class 7A1 at Tam Thanh Secondary School in Tam Thanh Ward, shared: "In my class, everyone enjoys lessons that incorporate digital technology. Thanks to the support of artificial intelligence, the knowledge becomes easier to understand, and the vivid illustrations help me grasp the material faster. My teacher also guided me in building a website to support my math studies, which helps me be more proactive in my learning."
In recent times, many schools in the province have implemented software such as online learning support, testing and evaluation tools, digital learning materials, and digital libraries, in a comprehensive, synchronized manner and connected to school management software using unique identifiers. In addition, digital technology has also been applied in classroom observation, testing, and the organization of "connected learning sessions." This activity not only enhances professional exchange but also creates opportunities for teachers and students in various regions to interact and learn on information technology platforms.
Thanks to the synchronized implementation of digital transformation solutions, in the 2024-2025 school year, most schools will be using digital teaching equipment, virtual experiments, and simulation software in teaching. Digital technology also contributes to improving the quality of education in the province. In the 2024-2025 school year, the province will have 34 awards at national excellent student competitions (an increase of 1 award compared to the 2023-2024 school year); 3 national science and technology awards for high school students (2 second prizes, 1 third prize); 2 national entrepreneurship awards for students (1 second prize, 1 third prize), and more than 4,700 junior high school students in the province will have the ability to program and control robots. For example, Tam Thanh Secondary School, in the 2024-2025 school year, had its robot team excel, winning first prize nationally in the Humanoid Robot category, second prize in the Huna soccer robot competition, third prize in the national STEM competition, and an honorable mention in the AI & Robotics Challenge competition...
Digital transformation has brought tangible benefits to the education sector in the province. Online management systems help reduce administrative procedures and improve the efficiency of leadership and management. Modern educational methods and abundant learning materials expand the learning environment, encourage teacher creativity, and promote student initiative. Furthermore, the collaboration between families and schools is strengthened through digital platforms. Thus, digital transformation not only changes mindsets and methods of task implementation but also creates momentum for innovation, making a significant contribution to building a modern, efficient, and integrated education system in Lang Son.
