In an emergency, every second counts. But it's difficult to accurately describe what's happening, especially when you're stressed or in danger.

Whether it's a car accident, a medical crisis, or a rapidly spreading wildfire, providing live images to rescue teams can make a huge difference.

According to Techcrunch, Google has just announced the Emergency Live Video feature on Android.

Users can stream live images from their phone's camera to rescue forces while making emergency calls or sending emergency messages. This feature is expected to help rapid response teams accurately assess the scene and provide timely assistance in situations such as traffic accidents, fires, or medical emergencies.

When calling the emergency number, the dispatcher can view the video provided by the user in real time.

Users do not need to install or set up anything extra. When you contact emergency services, dispatchers can send a request to activate the feature. You can choose to agree or decline.

If agreed, the video will be encrypted and can be stopped at any time. Google says that with just one tap, users can share real-time images, helping rescue forces guide emergency response steps directly from their phones.

Many technology companies have implemented safety solutions such as emergency SOS, collision detection, fall detection, and satellite positioning. Adding live video streaming capabilities is seen as the next step in assisting users in risky situations.

The Emergency Live Video feature will work on devices running Android 8 or later. Google is beginning to roll it out in the US and in select areas of Germany and Mexico.

The Android Emergency Live Video app is built on efforts to make getting help easier and provide peace of mind for users through features such as Emergency Location Services, Car Accident and Fall Detection, and Satellite SOS.

Google says it is working closely with public safety organizations around the world to expand this capability to more areas.

Public safety organizations interested in partnering to provide Emergency Live Video services to their area can find more information in the partner documentation and contact Google directly for implementation.
