In order to encourage organizations and individuals to promote creative ideas, the Hanoi People's Committee launched the 2025 Handicraft Product Design Contest with the theme "Enhancing creativity - spreading quintessence - reaching out for integration" and assigned the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade to implement it.

Contest products are divided into 6 groups: Ceramics; lacquer; rattan, bamboo, woven bamboo, te; mother-of-pearl inlay, wood, fine art horn; embroidery, silk; copper, stone and other handicraft products.

The organizers will invite leading experts to directly advise and give feedback on participating products. At the same time, they will organize 6 design orientation sessions by product group.

The Organizing Committee is expected to judge the competition in August and September 2025 and award prizes at the Hanoi International Handicraft Gift Fair (Hanoi Giftshow 2025) in October 2025.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Duong, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, said that through the contest, the Organizing Committee expects to attract 300 - 350 new handicraft product designs to support Hanoi handicraft enterprises and production facilities to diversify product designs to meet market demands.

“The contest is also a premise for businesses and handicraft production facilities in the city to restructure their industries and products to serve domestic market demand and increase export capacity,” informed Mr. Nguyen Anh Duong.
