Nguyen Cong Tru Street (Zone 8, Bai Chay Ward) is over 1km long and is being expanded and upgraded. This is a nearly 30-year-old road, repaired many times, but still degraded, causing difficulties for travel and trade. Therefore, although the project affects the residential land area of 69 households, up to now 99% of households have agreed to donate land and demolish existing structures. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa (Group 6, Zone 8) shared: "Although my family has a large area of land affected, my family has proactively volunteered to donate land because we have been waiting for this road to be expanded for a long time."
Not only Nguyen Cong Tru Street, implementing Plan No. 272, Bai Chay Ward People's Committee is implementing 7 infrastructure projects with a total investment of 130 billion VND; including upgrading streets, sidewalks, lighting, trees and landscapes. Of which, 1 project has signed a contract and is under construction, 3 projects are inviting bids, 1 project is preparing bidding documents, the remaining 2 projects are completing fire prevention and fighting appraisal before implementation.
Mr. Tran Manh Hung, Chairman of Bai Chay Ward People's Committee, said: "On November 5, 2025, the ward launched a 100-day and night campaign to improve the quality of urban areas and residential infrastructure, mobilizing nearly 270 people to participate in street beautification, environmental sanitation and tree planting. The campaign not only improves the landscape but also mobilizes people to join hands in building infrastructure for more synchronous and civilized residential areas, improving the quality of life and serving tourists. In addition, the ward is reviewing 6 public land funds to build playgrounds, community activities and preparing to implement more than 20 other infrastructure projects, gradually completing traffic, landscape, and improving urban quality throughout the area."
Thong Nhat Commune is also actively implementing infrastructure upgrade and residential area improvement projects according to Plan No. 272/KH-UBND of the Provincial People's Committee. The Commune People's Committee has approved 5 key projects, including: Upgrading the connecting road from Provincial Road 326, improving the road passing through Lang village cultural house, building anti-erosion embankments at Co Ngua slope and Lang village cemetery, and handling flooding at Cua Ho spillway. All projects have been approved for general site plan and approved for economic and technical reports. 100% of affected households agreed to donate land and hand over the site.
In addition to the ongoing projects, the Commune Steering Committee has planned 7 projects to prepare for investment in 2026 to improve infrastructure, landscape and living space for people. Mr. Tran Quang Khai, Director of Thong Nhat Commune Service Supply Center, said: “The commune is implementing synchronous projects to both upgrade infrastructure and create comfortable living space for people. We mobilize people to donate land, dismantle assets, and ensure the progress and quality of works according to plan. These efforts help the commune gradually improve traffic and landscape, creating a civilized urban environment.”
Plan No. 272/KH-UBND of the Provincial People's Committee is being implemented synchronously throughout the province, opening up a strong shift in the work of improving the quality of urban areas and residential areas. The plan aims to upgrade technical infrastructure, social infrastructure, landscape and living environment, perfecting the criteria of a civilized, clean, modern urban area, while at the same time arousing the spirit of "State and people working together".
Immediately after the plan was issued, communes, wards and special zones established Steering Committees, reviewed infrastructure and identified priority projects and areas. The projects focused on improving roads, drainage systems, planting trees, upgrading community activity sites and handling flooding and pollution.
The province has proposed more than 2,700 projects, expected to be invested in the 2026-2030 period using the state budget, medium-term public investment and socialization. With the unified direction of the province, the initiative of the locality and the consensus of the people, Plan No. 272 is creating a foundation for Quang Ninh to develop a civilized and modern urban area, improve the quality of life and gradually realize the goal of becoming a centrally-run city.
