South Korea wants to set up an AI data center in Vietnam

Representatives of Korea Telecom proposed expanding AI infrastructure, including building an AI Data Center in Vietnam, during a recent meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung. Mr. Young Shub Kim, Chairman of Korean Telecom (KT), the national telecommunications group that owns the strongest telecommunications network in Korea, expressed his wish to receive the support and companionship of the Government in the cooperation between the group and Viettel to lay the foundation for strategic initiatives on artificial intelligence, innovation and AI transformation.

At the same time, KT Group proposed expanding AI infrastructure, including building a modern AI Datacenter to serve the common development needs in the region.

Also at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung affirmed that the Government supports cooperation between KT Group and large Vietnamese technology enterprises such as Viettel through technology transfer, cooperation in human resource training, and AI infrastructure development.

The Government pledges to accompany, support and create conditions for the foreign business community, including Korean enterprises, to invest and do business long-term.

Vietnam also supports KT's plan to build an AI data center and establish a global development center in Vietnam to develop AI solutions and human resources for the Southeast Asian market. The Deputy Prime Minister hopes that the two sides will continue to discuss in detail and soon implement the projects.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung asked KT Group to research and develop an AI Data Center model suitable to Vietnam's socio-economic conditions and economic and technological growth rate, and to share operational and management experiences.
