Promoting innovation and technology commercialization: Connecting institutes - schools - businesses for sustainable development

Recently, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (Academy) organized the Workshop "Promoting innovation and technology commercialization: Connecting institutes - schools - businesses for sustainable development".

This is one of the activities to implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation development and respond to the National Innovation Day (October 1 every year) according to Official Dispatch No. 4652/BKHCN-DMST dated September 14, 2025 of the Ministry of Science and Technology .

At the workshop, Dr. Nguyen Tran Dien, Deputy Head of the Department of Technology Application and Deployment, Academy said: The Academy, as a leading scientific research organization of the country, has a clear responsibility and position in realizing Resolution 57. That position is not only reflected in the quantity and quality of scientific works, but more importantly, the ability to transform science into specific technical, technological and policy solutions, contributing to solving socio -economic development challenges from practice, protecting environmental resources and improving people's lives.

According to Dr. Nguyen Tran Dien, the realization of Resolution 57-NQ/TW cannot be undertaken by a single organization, but is the shared responsibility of the entire system: research institutes, universities, enterprises, local authorities and the social community. The Academy is committed to continuing to promote its role as a national knowledge center, a bridge between science and policy, and a reliable partner of enterprises in the journey to make science and technology the core driving force for sustainable development of the country. The connection between institutes - universities - enterprises together with the synchronous participation of the whole society will help scientific and technological results to be deployed effectively and practically, creating new products, services and development models, directly contributing to improving labor productivity, quality of life and economic competitiveness.

This workshop has created a truly open and effective space for managers, scientists, lecturers and businesses to exchange, share experiences and propose solutions to promote innovation in Vietnam.

Through the Workshop, the connection between research institutes, universities and businesses will be strengthened, aiming to form a sustainable innovation ecosystem. At the same time, mechanisms and policies to support technology commercialization will also be discussed, aiming to remove barriers in transferring research results into production and business practices.

In addition, the Workshop also arouses the spirit of creative entrepreneurship among young people, contributing to improving national technological capacity and developing a knowledge-based economy associated with sustainable development goals.

At the Workshop, there were 05 presentations on promoting innovation and product commercialization with main contents such as: Outstanding policies on innovation; Technology transfer - the journey from theory to practice; Application of research results in production and development of science and technology products; Promoting innovation ecosystem at universities - strategies and implementation practices at Hanoi University of Science and Technology; Building and connecting ecosystems for commercialization.

Within the framework of the Workshop, delegates attended the Discussion session and directly exchanged with the speakers. The Discussion took place in an atmosphere of sharing and openness, contributing to spreading the culture of innovation, encouraging scientists, especially the young generation, to continue to orient their research on issues of practical significance to production, life and social development; promoting businesses to proactively expand cooperation with researchers; State management agencies to promptly complete mechanisms and policies, remove administrative barriers, create a stable and favorable legal environment for innovation activities and technology commercialization.
