Focus resources on completing the road to the very last meter.

According to a report by the Ministry of Construction , by December 19, 2025, 3,188km of expressways will be completed and opened for technical traffic; 1,700km of coastal roads will be completed; and phase 1 of Long Thanh International Airport will be completed, meeting the goal of serving technical flights. With these results, the objectives of promoting investment in transportation infrastructure set out in the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam have been basically achieved.

A series of highway projects are racing against time to open the roads by December 19th.
By the end of 2025, the whole country will have completed at least 3,513km of expressways.

The completion of key transportation projects will create new added value for land, new development spaces, reduce travel time and transportation costs, reduce input costs for products, increase the competitiveness of goods, reduce logistics costs, and facilitate travel for people and businesses, especially during the 2026 New Year and the Lunar New Year of the Horse.

Regarding the project's progress, Mr. Tran Van Thi, Director of the My Thuan Project Management Board (the investor of the Can Tho- Ca Mau Expressway Project), said that currently, contractors have mobilized more than 2,100 workers and 1,150 machines and equipment, working simultaneously day and night on items such as asphalt paving, completing traffic safety systems (road markings, signs), bridge railings, etc. The overall progress of many project items has reached over 90%.

The project completion time is no longer measured in days but in hours. To ensure the project's completion, the My Thuan Project Management Board has requested contractors to mobilize all resources and flexibly apply construction methods to accelerate progress when weather conditions are favorable. In addition, the My Thuan Project Management Board has requested contractors to provide mutual support in terms of machinery, equipment, and personnel, working together to complete every last meter of the road, upholding the commitment to safety, quality, and progress.

Similarly, at the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon Expressway Project, thousands of engineers and workers are still racing against time to complete the final tasks in order to bring the project to completion by December 19th.

Mr. Bui Nhat Hien, Director of the Quang Ngai-Hoai Nhon Expressway Project (Project Management Board 2 - the investor), said that the entire road section has been paved with asphalt, and 60 bridges on the main route have been completed. Traffic safety items such as installing traffic signs, anti-glare nets, guardrails, road markings, etc., are being implemented in stages and will be completed in the next few days.

Specifically, tunnels No. 1 and No. 2 have been fully completed and are currently undergoing trial operation. Meeting the project's completion deadline of the end of 2025, shortening the project by more than 8 months compared to the contract, the consortium of contractors led by Deo Ca Group has mobilized over 3,500 personnel and 1,100 pieces of equipment, implementing a "3 shifts, 4 teams" construction schedule, handling unforeseen issues, and compensating for delays caused by natural disasters such as floods and slow land clearance.

In the North, the Dong Dang-Tra Linh Expressway Project, Phase 1, spanning over 93km, also aims to have approximately 65-70km of its sections open to traffic before December 19th, according to the project enterprise, Dong Dang-Tra Linh Expressway Joint Stock Company.

Currently, the project's output value has reached 80% of the planned completion date for phase 1. With its complex geological structure, rugged terrain, and prolonged periods of natural disasters such as heavy rain and floods, the Dong Dang-Tra Linh project has become one of the most challenging transportation projects. However, the contractors are determined to make every effort to complete the route before December 19th, ensuring their commitments to the Government, local authorities, and the people.

Absolutely do not underestimate the remaining time.

The Government Office has just issued Notice No. 682/TB-VPCP summarizing the conclusions of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh - Head of the Steering Committee - at the 22nd meeting of the State Steering Committee for important national and key projects in the transport sector.

The announcement also stated that there is not much time left until December 19, 2025, while many projects and works still have a large volume of work to be completed. Therefore, it requires the managing agencies to continue to build on the achievements already made, to make even greater efforts, and to be more determined in implementing tasks to ensure the projects are completed on schedule.

The Prime Minister noted that in order to achieve the goal of putting into operation 3,188km of expressways, approximately 1,700km of coastal roads, and basically completing phase 1 of Long Thanh International Airport, although agencies have made efforts in the past, there must be absolutely no complacency in the remaining time.

The Prime Minister requested that ministries, sectors, localities, and members of the Steering Committee continue to improve and act more decisively to successfully complete this particularly important political task. The Ministry of National Defense, upholding the spirit of "Uncle Ho's soldiers, the people's army," directed military regions to provide vehicles, equipment, and personnel to contractors with the goal of combining national defense tasks, combat training tasks, people support tasks, and production tasks to ensure the timely completion of the 3,188km expressway projects. Project management boards and contractors should promote the spirit of "mutual support" and assist each other; units that have completed their tasks should support those that have not yet completed theirs, according to the above objectives.

Affirming that there is not much time left to complete the project as directed by the Prime Minister, the Minister of Construction also requested investors and contractors to make greater efforts to complete the projects, ensuring progress and quality. The Ministry of Construction leader further informed that, including interchanges, by the end of 2025, the whole country will have completed at least 3,513km of expressways along with 1,701km of coastal roads.

This result exceeds the target set by the Prime Minister in accordance with Resolution 50/NQ-CP dated May 20, 2021 (to put into operation at least 3,000km of expressways and approximately 1,700km of coastal roads in 2025). The Ministry of Construction is decisively directing investors and contractors to mobilize maximum financial resources, supplement machinery, equipment, and personnel to resume construction as soon as possible; organizing construction in "3 shifts, 4 teams," and completing road foundation, surface, and traffic safety system items in a phased manner to ensure the completion of the North-South Expressway component projects in the East by December 19, 2025, as planned.

Furthermore, on December 19th, the Ministry of Construction will commence construction on 5 major projects stretching from North to South, including: the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong railway line, the expansion of the Cam Lo-La Son and Ho Chi Minh City-Trung Luong-My Thuan expressways, the completion of the Than Vu tunnel (part of the Dien Chau-Bai Vot expressway component project) and the Nui Vung tunnel (part of the Cam Lam-Vinh Hao expressway component project) on the Eastern North-South expressway in the 2021-2025 period.
