The opening night also marked the beginning of a series of cultural, sports, and tourism activities taking place across provinces and cities nationwide.
The Deputy Prime Minister assessed that in 2023 and 2024, Vietnam's tourism sector had made a spectacular recovery, exceeding planned targets and becoming one of the bright spots of the economy.
Vietnam ranks fourth in the region in terms of both tourist arrivals and total tourism revenue. This is a sign of recovery and a testament to the enduring appeal of domestic tourism on the world map.
The year 2025 is expected to mark a strong comeback for Vietnamese tourism, with "hopeful" targets: welcoming 22-23 million international visitors; 120-130 million domestic visitors, striving for total tourism revenue of approximately 980-1,050 trillion VND.
"Vietnam is entering a new era, where tourism is not just an experience, but also a bridge of friendship, cooperation, and sustainable development," the Deputy Prime Minister said, suggesting that the tourism industry needs to develop comprehensively, rapidly, and sustainably in the coming period with six principles: "Unique products - Professional services - Convenient and simple procedures - Affordable prices - Clean and beautiful environment - Safe, civilized, and friendly destinations."
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, Chairman of Hue City, Hue currently has 6 UNESCO-recognized tangible and intangible cultural heritage sites of humanity and 2 jointly owned heritage sites.

The city proudly boasts not only a tourist destination but also the preservation of important Vietnamese cultural values. Hosting the National Tourism Year 2025 is an opportunity for Hue to showcase its cultural, historical, and natural beauty to domestic and international tourists.
"Hue hopes to bring about a vibrant tourism year with a series of events, festivals, and unique art programs to honor heritage values, while also creating opportunities for tourists to experience the harmonious blend of tradition and modernity," Mr. Phuong said.
