Decisive action, efforts to boost Ha Tinh's economic growth

Through 2/3 of the journey to 2023, Ha Tinh's socio-economic picture has emerged with many bright colors. Each opportunity continues to be exploited, the main driving forces are carefully scripted to achieve the economic growth target of over 8% and complete the socio-economic development targets of the year.

Many impressive indicators

In mid-August, Unit 1 of Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant officially resumed operation after more than 2 years of inactivity. This is one of the positive signals, expected to contribute to the growth of the industry and the province's economy in the last months of the year.

According to Mr. Hoang Van Quang - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, Unit 1 - Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant operating and reconnecting to the national grid has brought the electricity production index in August and 8 months to a high increase compared to the same period. Along with growth in a number of other key industries, the industrial production index in the first 8 months of 2023 has reached an increase of 4.37%. If the production situation of enterprises (DN) goes smoothly and the VinES Battery Factory comes into operation, the industrial production index in 2023 is expected to reach the set target.

Along with industry, the trade and service sector recorded positive signals. In 8 months, total retail sales of goods reached nearly 38,500 billion VND, up 15.6% over the same period last year. Thanks to well-organized tourist attraction activities, the tourism sector was successful, especially sea tourism, bringing revenue from accommodation, food and beverage and travel activities up 26.51% over the same period last year.

Export activities in the first 8 months are a bright color in the economic picture with a turnover of more than 1.9 billion USD, an increase of 63% over the same period in 2022. Agricultural production in the area has been favorable with the spring rice crop yield reaching the highest ever. These days, the rice fields are dating the summer-autumn harvest with continued confidence in victory.

Another joy for the economic sector is that the budget collection result for the first 8 months reached more than 11,500 billion VND, equal to 60.5% of the estimate assigned by the Provincial People's Council. This figure demonstrates the determination and drasticness of financial agencies in the context of the economy and business activities still facing many difficulties. Investment in basic construction is highly focused, promptly removing "bottlenecks", ensuring the progress of project implementation. Thanks to that, the disbursement rate of public investment capital is higher than the general rate of the whole country.

New rural construction activities receive consensus from the people.

The task of building new rural areas continues to receive strong direction from all levels and sectors and the consensus of the people. At the same time, the province also focuses on implementing many solutions to remove difficulties for enterprises, promote production and business development, make efforts to improve the investment and business environment and attract investment. In 8 months, the whole province has 819 newly established enterprises and 11 projects approved for investment policy.

Along with economic development, the cultural and social fields have received attention and achieved many successes. Key education continues to be affirmed with outstanding results, including the gold medal of the International Chemistry Olympiad of Dinh Cao Son - Ha Tinh Specialized High School.

According to the assessment of the Department of Planning and Investment, since the beginning of the year, the world and domestic economic context has had many disadvantages for socio-economic development. In that situation, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee have made efforts in directing and operating; departments, branches, and localities have resolutely implemented tasks, overcome difficulties, created many bright spots in socio-economic development, and ensured good social security and social order and safety in the area.

Rebound from growth drivers

The results of the implementation of the socio-economic development tasks in 2023 are of great significance for the implementation of the goals of the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress and the 5-year socio-economic development plan 2021-2025. The "sweet fruits" achieved in the first 2/3 of the year are the driving force for Ha Tinh to continue to overcome challenges and successfully implement the goals and tasks.

VinES Battery Factory is expected to be one of the growth drivers of the province.

Based on the results of the first months of the year and the assessment of factors that have a major impact on the economy, the sectors have calculated the growth scenario and the ability to implement the 2023 plan to build key tasks for the last months of the year with feasible solutions. According to the analysis of the General Statistics Office, along with Unit 1 - Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant reconnecting to the grid, factors such as: the Vung Ang 2 Thermal Power Plant project is expected to be completed by the end of 2023, with cumulative disbursement reaching about 36,000 billion VND; production activities of many enterprises showing more positive signals are the driving forces expected to create momentum for economic growth in the last months of the year.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh - Deputy Director of the General Statistics Office said that Unit 1 - Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant has resumed operation. If the VinES Battery Factory comes into operation in the third quarter of 2023 and other growth factors such as trade - services, steel production, construction activities... take place stably, ensuring progress according to plan, GRDP growth can reach over 8% as planned.

In the last months of the year, Ha Tinh continues to speed up construction of key projects in the area.

Regarding the tasks for the last months of the year, Mr. Tran Viet Ha - Director of the Department of Planning and Investment said: In order to achieve the highest goals and targets, all levels and sectors need to continue to make more efforts and be more determined in directing and operating, taking advantage of all resources and opportunities for socio-economic development. In particular, it is necessary to focus on key tasks such as: promoting industrial production activities; speeding up the progress of key projects and ongoing projects; drastically collecting budget; speeding up the disbursement of public investment capital; promptly removing difficulties and obstacles for enterprises, supporting production and business, promoting the export of goods. In addition, it is necessary to pay attention to social security activities, people's lives, ensuring security and order.

With the efforts and acceleration of all levels, sectors, localities, enterprises and the "leverage" from the identified growth drivers, Ha Tinh has every basis to break through and conquer the economic growth target of over 8%.
