Coming to Phu Du village, passing through the green and self-managed flower paths of women, you can feel the peaceful and clean atmosphere of the countryside. This is the result of the meticulous care of women in the village every week and month, especially the pioneering role of Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc. In 2020, the Women's Union of Phu Du village was chosen as a pilot model of "Zero-waste residential area" associated with the implementation of women classifying and treating organic waste using the IMO microorganism method.

Women of Phu Du village perform the steps of making IMO probiotics. |
After attending a training course organized by the Women's Union of Gia Binh District (old) in collaboration with the Vietnam Organic Association on how to make probiotics, Ms. Ngoc researched and created the first probiotic product. She applied it to her own household waste, then used it to fertilize plants. Seeing that it had a good effect on crops and reduced waste discharge into the environment, Ms. Ngoc spread it to the women's union members of the entire branch. Ms. Ngoc said: "Probiotics are very easy to make, mainly using ingredients available at farmers' houses such as bananas, sugar, rice bran, yogurt, clean water, incubated for 15 days, then used the finished product to water the waste to deodorize, water the plants, vegetables and fruits to help the plants grow greener."
Successfully implemented at home, Ms. Ngoc and the Executive Committee of the Women's Union of the village selected 3 road sections with 60 participating households as a model for waste classification. The women classified and treated organic waste right at home using IMO microbiological products, turning waste into fertilizer to take care of flower paths and vegetable beds in their home gardens. Thanks to that, thousands of meters of colorful flower paths ran throughout the village and waste was treated, making the living space of the countryside brighter, greener, cleaner and more beautiful.
Up to now, the Women's Union of Phu Du village has mobilized 100% of households in the residential area to classify waste at source. Of which, hundreds of households have participated in classifying and treating organic waste using IMO microbiological technology at home; applying IMO microbiological yeast to treat the environment of ponds, barns and livestock farms. Most families are equipped with organic waste treatment techniques right at home and utilize the finished products for application in farming and livestock farming such as treating fish ponds, barns, watering plants... Thereby, saving costs on buying biological yeast and inorganic fertilizers; the living environment has been significantly improved. Recognizing these contributions, in early October, Ms. Ngoc was one of two typical examples to be commended at the Patriotic Emulation Congress organized by the Central Women's Union.
