Prolonged heavy rain caused landslides in Cam Trung commune and overflowed the Song Rac canal in Ky Anh commune.
On the evening of November 3, the leader of the People's Committee of Cam Trung commune ( Ha Tinh province) confirmed that early in the morning of the same day, a landslide occurred in the Ru Rac area, Nam Thanh village, affecting a number of people's farms. Rocks and soil from the mountain slopes poured down, covering many farms and residential buildings. The landslide area covered an area of about 3 hectares, surrounded by 3 stone processing mines, 2 of which are in operation, and 5 residential production farms. The landslide affected the property of 3 farms. The farm of Mr. Vo Van Phu (born in 1983), residing in Trung Thanh village, Cam Trung commune, suffered the most severe damage. The huge mass of rock and soil slid down from above, burying the entire camp at the foot of the mountain, with an affected area of about 1 hectare. According to the leader of Cam Trung commune, due to the heavy rain continuing over a large area, the authorities have not been able to access the entire scene to assess the damage. Meanwhile, in some locations, there is a deep subsidence, with the potential risk of further landslides if the heavy rain continues. The landslide directly affected 3/5 of the farms, causing estimated damage of billions of dong. The landslide crushed a pickup truck and required a crane to remove it from the scene. Fortunately, the incident happened during the day so people were able to evacuate in time, with only one person suffering minor injuries. Lieutenant Colonel Truong Van Thanh, Chief of Cam Trung Commune Police, said that the area was at high risk of landslides, so early in the morning, the Commune Police put up warning signs, not allowing people to enter the Ru Rac area. Immediately after the incident, the police coordinated with local authorities to blockade the scene, put up warning signs and evacuate all people and property out of the danger zone. Currently, the authorities have not been able to estimate the damage but are continuing to monitor the weather and the area around Ru Rac to take further response measures.
