Mr. Fathir Badri Alhadad - Chairman of the Malaysian Association of Travel and Tourism said: Lam Dong has a lot of potential to attract Halal tourists (Muslim tourists). However, the Halal tourism market here still has obstacles due to cultural differences.
The potential of Lam Dong that Mr. Fathir Badri Alhadad mentioned is the beautiful natural landscape, many historical - cultural - religious relics, unique festivals of the Cham, K'ho, Ma, Churu, M'nong... very suitable for designing experience tours for Halal tourists. Lam Dong is also home to 3 national treasures, including: Dak Son stone instrument, Po Dam golden Linga, Bac Binh Avalokitesvara statue.
Besides, there are 7 world heritages honored by UNESCO: Central Highlands Gong Cultural Space, Nguyen Dynasty Woodblocks, Lang Biang World Biosphere Reserve, Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark, Southern Southern Traditional Music Art, Cham Pottery Art and Da Lat - UNESCO Creative City in the field of music.
Lam Dong is also the place to organize cultural, sports and tourism events of national and international scale such as: Da Lat Flower Festival, Central Highlands Gong Music Festival, Tea - Silk Culture Week... Another strength that needs to be mentioned about Lam Dong is the 4 to 5 star hotels and resorts in Da Lat and Phan Thiet areas that meet the high-class accommodation needs of Halal tourists. Meanwhile, the old Dak Nong area is also full of promise with many new things, waiting for Halal tourists to discover.
According to Mr. Tran Van Tan Cuong - a Halal tourism expert, the potential for Halal tourists is very large. India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Middle Eastern countries are countries with a large Muslim population. The large number of visitors and the high cost of services are the advantages of Halal tourists. “Halal tourists often travel in groups.
With a large number and a very generous spending level on services, this type of customer is considered a gold mine for Vietnamese tourism to exploit,” said Mr. Tran Van Tan Cuong. Acknowledging the large potential for the Halal tourism market, Mr. Tran Van Tan Cuong still worries: “Currently, the criteria for accommodation and tours only meet the level of friendliness with the Muslim community.”
To attract Halal tourists to Lam Dong, Chairman of the Malaysian Tourism and Travel Association Fathir Badri Alhadad said that the local tourism market needs to understand the nuances of Islamic culture, thereby designing tourism products and services that meet the needs of Halal tourists. “Serving Halal tourists requires specific standards, from accommodation to food services, from experience schedules to rules for participating in entertainment activities at tourist destinations,” said Mr. Fathir Badri Alhadad.
From his work experience, Mr. Tran Van Tan Cuong added: “Every day, Muslims pray 5 times. While praying, Muslims need private space.
Hotels, restaurants, supermarkets and entertainment areas that have separate prayer rooms for Halal tourists are an advantage. In addition, resorts with swimming pools, designing separate swimming pools for men and women is also a competitive advantage for Halal tourists. Tour operators should plan flexible tour schedules.
