Before the semi-final match against Indonesia, coach Mai Duc Chung said: "What we need most is team spirit. The Indonesian team is improving very quickly. We met them in the Asian Cup qualifiers and won convincingly, but now we see that they have improved a lot, are playing well, and have reached the semi-finals. Tomorrow, we have high expectations for the Indonesian team."
Nevertheless, the head coach of the Vietnamese women's football team affirmed that she had made a promise to the fans before the SEA Games, who have always supported the women's football team.
"This time, having reached the semi-finals, we are committed to trying our best to achieve the best possible result, no matter how strong the opponent is or how many foreign players we have added," Mr. Chung emphasized.
"I know the Indonesian team has naturalized six players. Their starting eleven at the SEA Games has six different players compared to the Asian Cup. We have prepared and have strategies to compete against teams with better physical attributes. Recently, against the Philippines, we also had to compete against an opponent with superior physique. We have our own approach: pressing and playing aggressively. The Vietnamese women's team is trying to bring out the best in every aspect of the team," Mr. Chung revealed.
Present at the press conference, player Pham Hai Yen said: "On behalf of the entire team, I promise to do our best and not let down the support of our fans in the stands or at home. We are determined to win."
