Elevating trade fairs: From traditional trade promotion to a symbol of digital integration.
Unlike traditional trade promotion events, the first Autumn Fair - 2025 is considered by economic experts to be a "symbol of aspiration for greater reach". The event is not only a place for display and trade, but also a multi-faceted forum where Vietnam affirms its integration capabilities and its ability to create new value in the global economy.
According to Dr. Vo Tri Thanh, an economic expert, "The Autumn Fair is not just a trade promotion event, but a symbol of aspiration for further development – where Vietnam affirms its integration capabilities and ability to create new value in the global economy." He believes that if successfully organized and sustainably maintained, the Fair will become a significant event for the period 2026-2030, contributing to elevating Vietnam's position and standing on the international investment and trade map.
This year's event, aiming to attract an average of 500,000 visitors per day, demonstrates strong appeal and the potential to transform into a regional exhibition center. At the opening ceremony on the evening of October 25th, the Prime Minister emphasized, "The fair must be a connection between the past, present, and future; between culture, science and technology, and innovation." This defines the Autumn Fair as a digital platform for promotion, where traditional commerce enters the digital space, creating doubled brand value.

The event's scale was assessed as meeting six "best" criteria – largest, most modern, most diverse, highest quality, most attractive, and best incentives – reinforcing its position as a milestone in the national trade development process. Representing the Ministry of Industry and Trade – the organizing unit – Mr. Vu Ba Phu, Director of the Trade Promotion Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), stated: "The Autumn Fair 2025 demonstrates the strong transformation of Vietnamese trade in the digital age. The main objective is not only to activate domestic purchasing power, but also to open up export markets through the application of digital technology, helping Vietnamese products access global supply chains most effectively. This event is an important rehearsal for the organizational and operational capacity of the entire system."
The essence of Vietnamese identity: A driving force for the creative economy and a sustainable export journey.
The 2025 Autumn Fair is envisioned by the Government as a space to celebrate culture and connect the best in production and creativity – not just a purely commercial transaction.
The prominent presence of traditional craft products, local specialties, and cultural industries at a national-level event affirmed the commitment to using culture as a driver for economic development. This exhibition area became a highlight, attracting special attention from domestic consumers and international buyers – those seeking products with stories, historical value, and high uniqueness.

Participating in the Autumn Fair has significance beyond the business aspect for artisans and handicraft owners. It's a recognition and a great source of pride to have their products prominently displayed in a major economic forum. Artisan Le Thi Tuyet, owner of Moc An Food Production and Trading Company, specializing in making sticky rice flakes in Me Tri Sticky Rice Village (Hanoi), shared: "As a sticky rice flake artisan, I feel extremely proud that the exquisite products of our traditional craft village are participating in this event. It's not just about selling products; it's also a place for us to tell the story of sticky rice flakes and the sophistication of Hanoi's cuisine. We are clearly aware of our responsibility to preserve the traditional flavor – the core value of our products – while also finding ways to modernize packaging and expand distribution so that our handcrafted products and local specialties have a greater chance of reaching the international market, as the Prime Minister has directed."

Sharing the same pride, Ms. Tuyet, artisan Le Thi Xuan, owner of Xuan Nguyen Traditional Hand Embroidery Workshop, expressed: "Participating in such a large-scale and prestigious event, I feel a great sense of pride in bringing traditional hand embroidery products, embodying the essence and culture of Vietnam, to a wide range of consumers. The fair serves as a reminder of our responsibility to preserve and develop traditional crafts. This motivates us to continuously create new designs, apply new techniques while maintaining the soul of the needlework, and resolutely bring high-quality Vietnamese handicrafts to the world."
The Autumn Fair has created an effective platform where traditional values are harmoniously combined with sustainable consumption trends and Industry 4.0 technology. Businesses producing environmentally friendly products from traditional craft villages also take advantage of the event to seek export partners, as the global green consumption trend is opening up great opportunities for Vietnamese handicrafts. Mr. Can The Vinh, Director of Tre Viet Handicraft Import-Export Co., Ltd., said, "We realize that modern customers buy handicrafts not only for their beauty, but also for their sustainability, carbon-neutrality, and the story of the circular economy. Coming to the Fair, we hope to connect directly with distribution businesses, jointly develop new designs, meet stringent standards for green materials, and thereby strengthen the position of Vietnamese handicrafts in the global supply chain."

Even technology and innovation are being applied to traditional products. Mr. Dang Trung Doan, owner of the Dang Gia Agarwood brand (Nha Trang), said that the combination of traditional values and technological orientation is key. Agarwood businesses like ours must take advantage of this opportunity to learn and transfer technology, especially in product traceability through QR codes and blockchain. The connection between traditional products and Industry 4.0 technology will be key to enhancing internal capacity and international competitiveness, ensuring international consumers have absolute confidence in the quality and origin of Vietnam's 'black gold'."
The unity and aspiration of traditional artisans and businesses to reach out to the wider world is clear evidence of the spirit of "Asserting our capabilities - Spreading pride" that the Prime Minister emphasized on the opening night.
The Autumn Fair 2025 successfully created a multi-dimensional space where culture is not only preserved but also revitalized to become a new driving force for growth. The participation of international business delegations, notably the Indian delegation with 15 businesses, further affirmed the attractiveness and role of the Fair in creating a sustainable international cultural and trade bridge.
