The Lang Chanh District Women's Union currently has 10 branches, with 78 sub-branches and 6,749 members participating in activities. Along with building a strong organization, the Standing Committee of the District Women's Union has implemented many solutions to help members develop their economy , alleviate poverty, and build warm, happy families.
The model of raising Hoa Binh native chickens by Ms. Ha Thi Hao's family in Oi neighborhood, Lang Chanh town, has yielded high economic efficiency.
Like many farming families, when they first moved out on their own, Ms. Ha Thi Hao, a Thai ethnic woman from Oi neighborhood, Lang Chanh town, faced many difficulties. After many years of hard work, her family's economic situation did not improve significantly. In 2021, she decided to build a goat farm. However, due to lack of experience, her goat farming venture failed. Through the local association, she received loans and training in advanced scientific and technical methods for livestock farming. She also learned from books and newspapers, and then decided to invest in building a farm raising Hoa Binh native chickens combined with breeding and commercial pig farming. Because the farm was built on a large scale and the animals were cared for according to proper technical procedures, the farm has developed well. The farm consistently maintains 5,000 chickens, 10 sows, and 30 fattening pigs. After deducting expenses, her family earns a profit of nearly 100 million VND each year.
According to Le Thi Kieu, Chairwoman of the Lang Chanh District Women's Union: To support women members in developing their economy, eradicating hunger and poverty, and building warm and happy families, the union has recently intensified its propaganda and mobilization efforts to encourage members to actively transform the structure of crops and livestock; and coordinated with specialized departments to open training courses on transferring advanced scientific and technical knowledge in farming and animal husbandry. In addition, the union has directed its branches at all levels to conduct surveys of poor and near-poor households, thereby encouraging members to register for poverty alleviation. The union has also coordinated with the Agricultural Bank and the Social Policy Bank of the district to support 3,321 members in borrowing capital for economic development, totaling over 293 billion VND; and coordinated with microfinance organizations to approve loans for 2,160 members totaling 23.6 billion VND. The association maintained and effectively operated 69 savings groups with nearly 987 million VND in revolving loans for 191 members to develop livestock farming, crop cultivation, repair toilets, and ensure clean water. Notably, in 2023, the association coordinated the establishment of a "Commercial Pig Farming Cooperative" model for 20 member families in Yen Khuong commune, bringing the total number of cooperative economic models in the district to 5.
The practical and effective activities of the Lang Chanh District Women's Union have contributed to improving the material and spiritual lives of female members in the district.
