Scientific workshop "Optimizing blood filtration for patients on periodic hemodialysis"

On the morning of April 21, the Department of Health coordinated with Fresenius Medical Care LLC to organize a scientific workshop on "Optimizing blood filtration for patients on periodic hemodialysis".

Attending the workshop were comrade Pham Bich Van, Deputy Director of Lao Cai Department of Health; Dr. Nguyen Huu Dung, Chairman of Vietnam Dialysis Association, Deputy Director of Kidney - Urology Center of Bach Mai Hospital; Doctor Nguyen Thi Binh, Medical Director of Fresenius Medical Care Vietnam Co., Ltd.

The workshop attracted nearly 200 leaders and medical staff of provincial and district general hospitals in Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Lai Chau, Hoa Binh and Tuyen Quang provinces.

The workshop aims to update knowledge about dialysis in patients with chronic kidney failure, contributing to ensuring patient safety, improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, and developing the specialty of nephrology - dialysis more and more comprehensively.

Speaking at the workshop, comrade Pham Bich Van, Deputy Director of Lao Cai Department of Health, affirmed that the workshop is a forum for doctors and medical staff to meet, share, exchange experiences, and evaluate the results achieved in periodic blood filtration. This is an opportunity for nurses, doctors, and medical staff of Lao Cai province and neighboring provinces to learn professional knowledge from reporters and leading experts in the field of blood filtration; helping the local health sector to adjust existing problems and orient the implementation of specialized techniques, optimizing periodic blood filtration in patients with chronic kidney failure.

Dr. Nguyen Huu Dung, President of the Vietnam Dialysis Association, presented the content of Prescribing for patients on periodic dialysis - points to note.

At the workshop, medical experts presented a number of solutions to improve the quality of the kidney and dialysis sector, such as: points to note when prescribing for patients on periodic dialysis; recommendations for cardiovascular protection in patients on periodic dialysis; new techniques in periodic dialysis. A specialist in artificial kidney from Lao Cai General Hospital presented the direction and plan for developing dialysis in Lao Cai province.

Blood filtration technology has been deployed at Lao Cai Provincial General Hospital since 2007, and has now been expanded to Sa Pa, Bac Ha, Bao Yen District General Hospitals and Simacai District Medical Center. Doctors and nurses in charge of blood filtration are all highly trained and proficient in continuous blood filtration technology, thanks to which many patients in critical condition have been saved.
