Hong Nhung speaks up after cancer surgery, expressing gratitude to musician Duong Thu

(Dan Tri) - At the beginning of the year, diva Hong Nhung shared the news that she had breast cancer and had to undergo surgery. Currently, it can be seen that her health and spirit are quite good through her performance in Hanoi on the evening of November 4.

On the evening of November 4, at the Ho Guom Theater, Hanoi, the music program Music Window No. 5 : Duong Thu - The Song of Autumn has the participation of diva Hong Nhung, along with some famous names such as Thanh Lam, Bang Kieu, Tan Minh, Khanh Linh, Vu Thang Loi, Dao To Loan...

Hong Nhung was the opening singer of the concert. The 55-year-old diva wore a white dress, then changed into a pink one later in the performance. She walked around comfortably, her voice clear and cheerful.

The female singer made the audience fall silent to listen to her soaring, melodious voice as she breathed new life into the song "Nightingale Sings in the Rain" - the song that made Hong Nhung famous many years ago.

Through Hong Nhung's performance last night, the audience saw that the female singer is in good health and spirit after undergoing surgery and breast cancer treatment since the beginning of the year.

She also actively innovates music with the program crew, creating new arrangements for famous songs.

On this occasion, when singing in Duong Thu's music night, diva Hong Nhung was assigned by her close musician to perform two songs: Nightingale Sings in the Rain and Winter Lullaby. In addition, she herself "initially" performed another famous song.

Also at the show, Hong Nhung openly confided about her personal relationship with musician Duong Thu, revealing that he was a great help to her and was the reason she became a professional singer.

The Hanoi singer moved the audience when she shared the story of when she was 15 years old, the time when Mr. Duong Thu guided her from the children's stage to the professional singing career.

To be able to take Hong Nhung to sing when she was young, musician Duong Thu had to go to Hong Nhung's house on Dien Bien Phu street (Hanoi) to ask for permission from her father - Mr. Viet - a very strict person.

“My father wondered at that time: "Who is this musician who took my child to Hai Phong for a singing competition, taking a whole week off school like that?". For my father's generation, studying was the most important thing, and singing was just for fun," Hong Nhung recalled.

However, with his sincerity, musician Duong Thu made Hong Nhung’s father agree. Thanks to that, the 15-year-old girl became the youngest singer to perform at the “4th National Professional Music and Dance Festival” in Hai Phong and was awarded a Gold Medal, a special memory that Hong Nhung still remembers forever.

The singer recounted that when she performed Dieu oi cho em bay by musician Nguyen Cuong at the Hai Phong Opera House, the train whistle suddenly sounded loudly. “At that time, I only weighed 35kg, but my singing voice was still louder than the train whistle. Maybe that’s why I was awarded the Gold Medal,” the singer said with laughter.

Talking about her great teacher, Hong Nhung emotionally said that Duong Thu was the one who taught her not only about music, but also how to feel the beauty in life.

She confided: “I didn’t have the opportunity to study in many schools, but I learned a lot from Uncle Thu. Not only music, but also fine arts, literature and lifestyle,” she reflected.

The diva also surprisingly revealed that musician Duong Thu is also very talented in the field of architecture and loves beauty. “Uncle Thu also built many houses for me to live in, and each house is beautiful and has a strong cultural imprint,” she said wittily.

But behind the witty laughter were choked moments when Hong Nhung mentioned the musician's personal pain, he lost his daughter at the age of 18.

“At that time, I was with My. To Uncle Thu, I was like a family member. He considered me his son, and it was that affection that made me always consider him as a spiritual support,” Hong Nhung choked up.

According to her, the greatest lesson that musician Duong Thu left her was “the purity in the soul of an artist”. “That purity helps music, lyrics and everyone’s life become fresher. No matter what age, an artist still needs to keep a childlike soul like Uncle Thu today”, Hong Nhung said.

The female singer also humorously said that in this program, the musician only allowed each person to sing 2 songs, but she "secretly asked" to sing more.

“I called him and begged him to let me sing one more song, but he said, “No. I told you already!” However, after reviewing the program list, I realized that a very important song was missing, so I decided to add it,” she revealed.
