On March 7, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Communist Magazine, organized a national scientific conference titled "Vietnamese Foreign Relations and Diplomacy in the New Era, the Era of National Advancement" at the Diplomatic Academy. The conference was chaired by comrades Nguyen Xuan Thang, Member of the Political Bureau, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, and Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council; Bui Thanh Son, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Hoang Trung Dung, Member of the Central Committee of the Party and Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Magazine.
The conference was attended and discussed by more than 250 guests, including representatives from various ministries and agencies, such as the Central Party Office, the Central Policy and Strategy Committee, the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs , National Defense, Public Security, Industry and Trade, Interior, Culture - Sports and Tourism, Science and Technology, the Central Theoretical Council, the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy, representatives from several localities and businesses, and many experts and scholars from research institutes and universities nationwide, as well as outstanding students from the Diplomatic Academy.

Ho Trung Dung, Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Magazine, delivered the opening remarks at the seminar, emphasizing the requirements for ministries, departments, and agencies in the process of national development, especially in the context of a world that continues to evolve in a complex and rapidly changing manner. He stressed that after 80 years of building and accumulating resources, Vietnam is entering a new era, facing the demands for rapid, strong, sustainable, and comprehensive development in all fields. Therefore, sectors need proactive strategies and clearly defined directions to achieve two important strategic goals by 2030 and 2045.
Following the presentations by various ministries and agencies, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son expressed his appreciation for the participation of the delegates and highly valued the presentations that had just been given. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister stated that, given the complex and unpredictable changes in the international situation, the foreign affairs sector needs to assume a crucial role in maintaining a peaceful environment and leveraging favorable conditions to promote national development. Clarifying the theoretical basis of the concept of a "new era" is necessary, as is continuously innovating and improving the capacity of Vietnam's foreign affairs sector to meet increasingly demanding requirements and tasks, aiming to build a comprehensive, modern, professional, and appropriate foreign policy in the new era. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs needs to actively absorb contributions with an open mind and emphasize the importance of refining theory and summarizing practical experience to enhance the effectiveness of foreign affairs work in the new period.

Concluding the seminar, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang, Member of the Political Bureau, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy, and Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, highly appreciated the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Communist Magazine in organizing the seminar, demonstrating a proactive and timely spirit in the context of the entire political system promoting the institutionalization of the "new era" concept. He emphasized several important orientations for foreign affairs in the new era based on Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's diplomatic thought, inheriting the national diplomatic tradition and absorbing the essence of human civilization. He stressed that diplomacy in the new era needs to play a pioneering role, closely coordinating with national defense and security to carry out important and regular tasks. At the same time, foreign affairs must become a bridge between domestic and foreign forces, effectively utilizing external resources to expand development space, create new opportunities, and contribute to promoting the country's strategic breakthroughs. Finally, we need to strengthen the field of foreign relations and communication, promote the image and values of Vietnam to the world, and enhance Vietnam's role and contribution to common regional and international issues.

Since the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vietnam has faced complex and unpredictable global developments, and the role of diplomacy has become increasingly important, demanding pioneering spirit and continuous innovation, daring to think and act. The national scientific conference "Foreign Affairs and Vietnamese Diplomacy in the New Era, the Era of National Emergence" is an important event for delegates and speakers to exchange ideas, discuss, and evaluate in depth.
Nearly 50 papers were received from leaders, scholars, scientists from ministries, departments, localities, businesses, and representatives of Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad. These papers offered forecasts on the global situation and Vietnam's development prospects in the coming period, as well as the objectives of foreign policy in various fields.
