Mobilizing maximum human resources to overcome mud spill incident on Cat Linh street

On the afternoon of May 27, the Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board (MRB) said that the mud spill incident on Cat Linh Street is being actively handled. At the same time, the exact cause is also being determined to prevent incidents in the next phase.

Regarding the phenomenon of mud mixture spraying onto the ground at Cat Linh during the construction of the tunnel of the Hanoi City Pilot Urban Railway Project, Nhon - Hanoi Station section, MRB said that mud sprayed onto the ground during the tunnel drilling process with the first TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine). During the excavation of TBM No. 1, a phenomenon of mud mixture spraying onto the ground occurred in front of houses 25C and 25E Cat Linh, Cat Linh Ward, Dong Da District.

The contractor mobilized maximum manpower to fix the problem.

As soon as the above phenomenon was discovered, the contractor immediately activated the project's emergency procedure, under the supervision of the investor, MRB, the supervision consultant (PIC), local authorities and related units. The investor stopped drilling by TBM No. 1 to reduce the amount of mud being sprayed up but still had to ensure the stability of the excavation face. The contractor took remedial measures, mobilized maximum manpower, mud suction trucks, collected and treated mud at the site, and re-examined the geological conditions in the area where the phenomenon occurred to stabilize the situation soon.

Currently, MRB is working closely with relevant units to accurately assess the cause and deploy technical measures to prevent similar incidents in the next phase. MRB is strictly implementing safety measures during construction, complying with current technical standards and regulations. MRB will continue to update information on the construction status and coordinate with relevant agencies to ensure project progress and quality.
