Specifically, the British Council announced on September 6 that it would cancel the IELTS test on September 7 and the morning of September 8 in the following provinces and cities: Hanoi , Hue, Vinh, Hai Phong and Thai Nguyen, with the reason given as "to ensure the safety of candidates and the quality of testing activities in the face of the complicated developments of super typhoon Yagi". This unit said that it had sent messages to affected candidates to inform them of support measures.

“Candidates whose exam schedules are affected, please check your email from the British Council or contact us directly via [email protected] for instructions on how to reschedule your exam free of charge,” the British Council informed.

On the same day, IDP also issued a similar announcement, saying that it would cancel all IELTS test schedules on September 7 in Hanoi, Ha Long, and Hai Phong due to the complicated developments of super typhoon Yagi. The unit asked affected candidates to check their emails for instructions on changing the test schedule. “If you have any questions related to the test cancellation, please reply to the email or contact via email: [email protected] for timely answers,” IDP informed.

Speaking to Thanh Nien this afternoon, September 7, a representative of IDP Vietnam said that the unit has also decided to cancel all exam schedules on September 8 in the three above-mentioned locations and has notified candidates. At 6:15 p.m., the British Council also provided the latest update in a post on its official fanpage, stating that it will cancel all IELTS exams tomorrow morning and afternoon "to ensure the safety of candidates".

In addition to IELTS, another international English test of the British Council, Aptis ESOL, also announced the cancellation of the exams on the afternoon and evening of September 7 in Hanoi and Thai Nguyen. "The British Council will notify each candidate on the exam registration list via personal email and phone text message on September 6," said the announcement from ETE Vietnam Company Limited - the unit authorized by the British Council to organize exams and issue Aptis certificates in Vietnam.

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is an international English language testing system widely recognized by thousands of universities, governments and businesses worldwide. The exam was launched in 1989 and is currently jointly owned by IDP, the British Council and Cambridge Assessment English and Press (UK).
