VnExpressVnExpress22/01/2024

If candidates do not achieve the desired score, they can retake any skill, instead of all 4 IELTS skills, in some countries and territories.

On the morning of January 22, IDP, one of the two units that own the IELTS test in Vietnam, confirmed that the new IELTS English test has the One Skill Retake (OSR) feature, allowing candidates to retake one of the four skills Listening, Speaking, Reading or Writing, if they have not achieved the desired score. The new feature applies to both the Academic and General IELTS tests.

"The OSR test format has not been implemented in Vietnam," said a representative of IDP Vietnam, without giving a reason.

The new feature is currently available in Bangladesh, Australia, Cambodia, Canada, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Italy, Japan, Kenya, South Korea, Malaysia, Moldova, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Oman, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey. IELTS says it will roll out the feature in more locations.

Millions of people around the world use IELTS scores to work and migrate every year. Therefore, IDP believes that the development of IELTS One Skill Retake aims to create the most favorable conditions for test takers.

Candidates are allowed to retake a skill test once, within 60 days of the original test date, provided they have completed the entire test and received their results. Test fees vary by location.

IELTS is an international English test, recognized by more than 11,000 organizations worldwide.

OSR exam fees in some places:

TT Exam location Fee
1 Australia 259 AUD (over 4.1 million VND)
2 India 16,250 INR (nearly 4.8 million VND)
3 Canada 199-299 CAD (3.6-5.4 million VND) depending on location and testing center
4 Korea 191,620 KRW (3.5 million VND)
5 Thailand 7,350 THB (5 million VND)
