According to a report by JP Morgan, using Apple's global product supply tracking tool, this trend reveals interesting signs about the current sales of the iPhone 16 models.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max has garnered strong consumer interest.

Decreased demand for some iPhone 16 models.

Delivery times for the basic iPhone 16 model have decreased from 4 days in week 4 to 3 days in week 5. This indicates a decline in demand for this basic iPhone model. The iPhone 16 Plus also saw a significant drop, with delivery times halved from 6 days to 3 days during the same period.

Strong demand for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

However, while demand for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus showed signs of slowing down, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models continued to attract strong consumer interest. The iPhone 16 Pro still had relatively long delivery times, slightly decreasing from 22 days in week 4 to 21 days in week 5. Notably, the iPhone 16 Pro Max impressed with stable delivery times of 29 days in both week 4 and week 5, demonstrating continued strong demand for this premium model.

JP Morgan analysts believe that previous reports of weak iPhone 16 sales may be an anomaly. The stability of delivery times, especially for the iPhone 16 Pro Max, clearly reflects the model's appeal. While delivery times for the iPhone 16 have dropped from 17 days to just 3 days within four weeks, the iPhone 16 Pro Max has maintained a steady 29 days, demonstrating superior sales performance.

Compared to the iPhone 15 series

Compared to last year's iPhone 15 series, the current trend for the iPhone 16 series shows some similarities. Specifically, in the fifth week of 2023, the delivery time for the iPhone 15 was basically 3 days, similar to the iPhone 16 this year. However, last year's iPhone 15 Plus had a 15-day waiting time after the fifth week, while the iPhone 16 Plus only took 3 days, indicating much weaker demand for the iPhone 16 Plus.

For the Pro models, last year's iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max had delivery times of 22 and 33 days, respectively, after the fifth week. In comparison, this year the iPhone 16 Pro took 21 days, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max took 29 days to deliver, demonstrating that the new product line remains highly attractive.

Delivery situation in major markets

In the United States, the delivery time for the iPhone 16 before week 5 remains at 4 weeks, while the iPhone 16 Plus has decreased from 7 days to 4 days. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max maintain delivery times of 21 days and 28 days, respectively.

In China, all four iPhone 16 models saw significantly reduced delivery times from week 4 to week 5. Specifically, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus saw delivery times drop from 5 days to 1 day. The iPhone 16 Pro dropped from 23 days to 20 days, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max dropped from 30 days to 26 days.

In Europe, particularly Germany, iPhone 16 delivery times dropped from 4 days to 3 days in the fifth week. iPhone 16 Plus delivery times also decreased from 7 days to 3 days. Conversely, demand for the Pro models in Germany increased significantly, with iPhone 16 Pro delivery times rising from 21 days to 22 days and iPhone 16 Pro Max from 29 days to 31 days.

In the UK, the iPhone 16 delivery time remains unchanged at 5 days from week 4 to week 5, while the iPhone 16 Plus delivery time has decreased from 5 days to 4 days. For the Pro models, delivery times remain the same, at 22 days for the iPhone 16 Pro and 29 days for the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Despite a decline in demand for some iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models, the iPhone 16 Pro line, especially the iPhone 16 Pro Max, continues to hold the leading position in Apple's product range. With consistent delivery times and high demand in major markets such as the United States, China, and Europe, the iPhone 16 Pro Max remains a top choice for consumers.
