The women's team kata is a very strong event for Vietnamese Karate, having previously won gold medals at both the 2023 Asian Games and the 33rd SEA Games. Therefore, this event is expected to bring home the first gold medal for Vietnamese Karate at the 33rd SEA Games.

Living up to expectations, martial artists Nguyen Thi Phuong, Nguyen Ngoc Tram, and Hoang Thi Thu Uyen overcame the pressure from Thai fans to deliver outstanding performances.
With the Tomari Bassai kata, lasting 5 minutes, Nguyen Thi Phuong and her teammates chose to perform a highly difficult routine, perfecting both technique and expression, and demonstrating perfect coordination in every movement, helping the Vietnamese women's kata team defeat the host country and win the gold medal convincingly.
This is the first gold medal for Karate and Vietnam's fifth gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games, as of 2:30 PM today, December 11th, after Taekwondo, Canoeing, Petanque, and Swimming.

In Taekwondo, Nguyen Hong Trong reached the final of the 54kg sparring event after defeating Barbosa (Philippines) with a score of 2-1 (18-5, 6-15, 11-4) and secured the silver medal.
In Judo, the pair Mai Thi Bich Tram/Vu Hoang Khanh Ngoc defeated the Thai pair in the Ju No Kata event with 386.5 points to advance to the final.
In MMA, Quang Van Minh won the gold medal in the men's 65kg weight class. Van Minh dominated Tan Yee Siang (Malaysia) and secured a knockout victory in the final.
However, MMA at the SEA Games 33 was purely for demonstration purposes and did not count towards the overall medal standings.
