Bringing OCOP products into modern retail channels: Difficult but necessary. Overcoming transportation difficulties, businesses continue to strongly transport vegetables from the South to the North.

Proactively secure vegetable and root crop supplies after the storm.

Following Typhoon No. 3, the commodity market is experiencing unpredictable fluctuations, with prices of many types of vegetables and fruits rising sharply. In an interview with a reporter from the Industry and Trade Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung – Deputy General Director of the WinMart chain – stated that, given the damage to vegetable farms in the North after the storm and floods, WinMart has proactively sourced goods from the South to ensure a supply of clean vegetables and fruits to meet consumer demand. For example, WinEco's clean vegetables and fruits have been sourced from farms in the South and Lam Dong , and quickly transported to the North, ensuring no shortage of supply for consumers.

At the same time, WinEco quickly implemented measures to restore production at farms in the northern region. At the Tam Dao farm, WinEco continued to maintain the production of short-term vegetables such as sprouts, bean sprouts, and baby vegetables to promptly meet the consumption needs of the people.

Currently, the Ha Nam farm has planted nearly 10 hectares of rice fields and completed repairs to its greenhouse system, ready to boost agricultural production. It is expected that by October, four large farms in the North will restore 70-80% of their pre-storm production capacity. This retail unit is committed to maintaining supply and stabilizing prices not only before and after the storm season but also throughout the year. To diversify its supply sources, WinMart has been cooperating with various suppliers to avoid dependence on a single source. At the same time, the supermarket system has increased its reserves of essential goods to prevent shortages and ensure reasonable prices during the year-end and Tet holiday.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung – Deputy General Director of WinMart chain – said: “After the storms and floods, the supply of many agricultural products such as rice, vegetables, fruits, and pork… in general on the market has been affected. To cope, WinMart/WinMart+/WiN has adjusted its import and inventory plans, ensuring sufficient supply to meet demand from now until the end of the year.”

Concurring with this view, a representative from MM Mega Market Vietnam shared that currently, Mega Market Vietnam still transports 2-3 shipments of vegetables and tubers from growing areas in Binh Duong and Lam Dong to the North every week to ensure timely supply for the people. At the same time, they always have a ready supply to immediately supplement their stock during periods of high demand.

Simultaneously, in recent times, MM Mega Market Vietnam has focused strongly on building a closed supply chain, which is robustly strengthened by 5 purchasing and supply stations, 2 large warehouses in Binh Duong, and 6 B2B delivery depots. For example, depots are located from Central Vietnam to the North, such as Phan Thiet, Dong Hoi, Thanh Hoa, Sa Pa, etc., so the inventory capacity can supply up to one month's worth of goods to the North.

Implement various promotional programs.

To help alleviate the financial burden on consumers, WinMart/WinMart+/WiN continues to implement numerous promotional programs, most notably the regular promotions applied across the entire system, offering the opportunity to purchase hundreds of "Super Cheap" products with discounts up to 50% along with buy-one-get-one-free and buy-two-get-one-free offers. These items are all essential goods ranging from dry food items such as cooking oil, fish sauce, rice, instant noodles, confectionery, and beverages to cosmetics, personal care products, etc., and account for a large proportion of consumer purchases at the supermarket.

From September 21st to 27th, WinMart, in collaboration with MaxKleen, is running the MaxKleen Brand Week, offering discounts of up to 38% on household cleaning and hygiene products such as floor cleaner and laundry detergent. Additionally, on weekends, WinMart/WinMart+/WiN stores nationwide will host fruit festivals featuring a wide variety of high-quality agricultural products.

Besides promotional policies applied to over 600 affordable products in the system, WinMart's private label products are also a popular choice among customers. Proactive production processes and careful selection of raw materials have helped the retailer control prices, ensuring they are always 10-20% lower than comparable products in the market.

Alongside developing its own-brand products, WinMart/WinMart+/WiN actively collaborates with various brands to provide quality products at competitive prices, especially with exclusive offers for WiN members. Specifically, with the WiN Membership program, customers save 20% when purchasing two product groups: WinEco organic vegetables and MEATDeli organic meat.

A representative from MM Mega Market shared that the MM Mega Market system in the North is still striving to maintain the most stable supply possible with a commitment not to increase prices, especially for essential fresh produce such as vegetables, fruits, meat, and fish, to share the difficulties with people after being affected by storms and floods.
