Opening of the 2024 Vietnam Ethnic Culture Festival

On the evening of December 14th, at the Quang Tri Provincial Cultural and Cinema Center (Dong Ha City), the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, organized the opening ceremony of the 2024 Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures Festival. The festival brought together 16 participating provinces and cities: Bac Giang, Da Nang, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Lam Dong, Lang Son, Nghe An, Quang Binh, Quang Nam , Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Son La, Thanh Hoa, Hue, Vinh Phuc, and Quang Tri.

The 2024 Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures Festival in Quang Tri province took place from December 13-16 with the theme "Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of Vietnamese ethnic groups: Equality, solidarity, respect, integration and development for a peaceful world".

The festival features the participation of artisans, actors, and athletes from ethnic minority groups – cultural figures from many regions of the country.

Ms. Trinh Thi Thuy, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, emphasized: With the theme "Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of Vietnamese ethnic groups - Equality, solidarity, respect, integration and development for a peaceful world," the festival aims to honor the fine traditional cultural values, preserve and promote the cultural identity of Vietnamese ethnic minorities within the unified and diverse culture of the community of 54 ethnic groups.

Delegates from provinces with participating units attended the opening ceremony of the cultural festival.

With 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam, formed and refined throughout the history of nation-building and national defense, these cultural values ​​have created a powerful vitality and a unifying force that makes up the strength of the Vietnamese nation.

Besides shared cultural values, each ethnic group has its own unique identity, stemming from historical traditions, natural landscapes, geographical areas, and living environments... from which distinctive cultural values ​​are formed.

Language, clothing, cuisine, folk art, social relationships, traditional beliefs, and many other forms of expression contribute to the unity of Vietnamese culture in its diversity.

Preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values ​​of ethnic groups is both a goal and a central, long-term task identified by the Party and State of Vietnam in all periods, especially in the context of innovation, integration, globalization, and the ongoing scientific and technological revolution.

Many outstanding performances from various provinces took place at the opening ceremony.
