Startup support activities recorded many impressive results

Gia Lai not only expands its geographical space, but also expands its development thinking, taking regional connectivity as a driving force, innovation as a method and people as the center.

During the 2019-2025 period, the province’s startup support activities recorded many impressive results. More than 2,000 people were trained in skills and innovative thinking, doubling the set target. The incubation program supported 105 ideas and projects, of which 16 enterprises were accelerated by mentoring.

Through competitions, acceleration programs and investment connection activities, 26 typical startups were selected, with 6 successfully raising capital. The network of experts, advisors and investors also expanded rapidly with 88 mentors and 91 angel investors, creating a real support system for startups.

In addition to training and incubation programs, communication and community connection activities have been strongly promoted. Four Startup Festivals, along with Techfest events and a series of programs in coordination with provinces in the South Central - Central Highlands region have created opportunities for startups in the province to expand their networks, learn and access investment.

In particular, the 6th National Innovation and Startup Forum held in Quy Nhon earlier this year marked an important turning point, gathering more than 1,200 delegates, nearly 30 international experts and witnessing many cooperation agreements and investment commitments being signed. This event contributed to affirming Gia Lai's new position on the national innovation map.

Building Gia Lai into a regional innovation center

Entering a new journey, the 2026-2030 period, Gia Lai aims to upgrade the ecosystem to a more professional level, aiming to build Gia Lai into a regional innovation center.

This goal is clearly defined by the province in Plan 105/KH-UBND that by 2030, the potential of science and technology and innovation will reach an advanced level in many fields; the digital economy will contribute at least 30% of GRDP; the group of 15 leading localities in digital competitiveness and digital government; the group of 10 leading localities in AI, semiconductors and cybersecurity; modern digital infrastructure equivalent to centrally run cities. By 2045, Gia Lai will become an important center of science and technology, innovation and AI in Vietnam, the digital economy will account for over 50% of GRDP, forming a strong team of digital technology enterprises and a comprehensively developed innovation ecosystem.

To achieve the set goals, Gia Lai plans to support at least 60 projects each year, commercialize 50 innovative products, form 30-40 new innovative startups and build a provincial-level startup support space, while expanding the satellite innovation space model at schools and technology centers.
