(NADS) - Severe flooding right at the foot of the Ba Son bridge (on the Thu Duc City side), an area with high-end "million-dollar" apartments, raises many questions about the quality of infrastructure and urban planning in the city.
Present at the foot of the Ba Son bridge on the Thu Duc City side (Ho Chi Minh City), a reporter from Photography & Life Magazine observed the flooding situation there. Accordingly, in just a short time after a light rain, the area transformed into a temporary "river," causing considerable difficulties for residents' movement. Through the reporter's lens, stark contrasts emerged: above were magnificent high-rise buildings and luxurious million-dollar apartments, but below was a scene of severe flooding, causing serious traffic congestion.
Through conversations with several residents in the area, many expressed disappointment that despite living in a modern central location, they still face flooding after every rain. Some car owners said they have to find other places to park to avoid water getting into their engines. Residents living in upscale buildings nearby were also surprised to witness this scene, sharing that flooding is a recurring problem that has yet to be thoroughly resolved.
Some urban planning experts argue that flooding in areas with large-scale projects often stems from inconsistent planning and drainage systems that cannot cope with the volume of rainwater during unpredictable weather changes. This not only affects the lives of residents but also diminishes the real value of high-end real estate projects, which are expected to be symbols of modern development.
The images captured serve not only as a warning about urban infrastructure problems but also reflect the ineffective management of large-scale development projects, particularly in central city areas.
