(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the morning of May 15, the City Red Cross Society held a groundbreaking ceremony to build a Red Cross House for Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa's family in Doan Dung village, Thai Son commune, An Lao district.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa’s family is in a difficult situation, consisting of 3 generations with 8 members. Her father suffered a stroke, her mother is often sick, and she has to raise two children alone, without a husband, and has an unstable income. Currently, the whole family is living in a 45m² house built 30 years ago, with peeling walls and ceilings, seriously degraded.
After a field survey, the City Labor Federation coordinated with the City Red Cross to support 50 million VND, while the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the city supported an additional 60 million VND to build a 48m² level 4 house, including 2 bedrooms, 1 kitchen and 1 bathroom, with a corrugated iron roof. The remaining cost of nearly 200 million VND will be supported by relatives and clans to help Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa's family complete the house. The project is expected to be completed and handed over in July 2025, helping Ms. Hoa's family stabilize their lives and gradually escape poverty sustainably.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Red Cross House not only has profound humanitarian significance during the Humanitarian Month but also demonstrates the spirit of mutual love, community responsibility and the active participation of all levels, sectors and social organizations in social security work in the locality./.
