More than 100 party members, cadres, civil servants, union members, veterans, union members, youth and workers of the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City watched the film Tunnels: Sun in the Dark - vividly recreating the resilient fight of our army and people underground.

The delegates had the opportunity to interact with the Hero of the People's Armed Forces To Van Duc - the prototype of the character Tu Dap in the film Tunnels . He was known as the "tank destroyer" in the steel land of Cu Chi at that time, because he created landmines to destroy 5,000 enemy vehicles. At the same time, they also listened to the emotional sharing of Mr. Hoang Don Nhat Tan, Vice Chairman of the Thanh Doan Traditional Club, who fought in the tunnels of Nhuan Duc commune, Cu Chi district.
People's Armed Forces Hero To Van Duc recounted that when American tanks were mass-sweeping the Cu Chi area in 1966, local guerrillas tried to make their own combat vehicles. A friend lent him two mines, which he brought home to study how to use. He set up the mines, and when the tanks passed by, one of them hit the mine and its chain broke.

With his creativity, he came up with the idea of making a trip wire mine, when a tank or enemy soldier passes by and gets caught in the trip wire, the mine will explode. To make this type of mine, he used explosives from unexploded bombs dropped by the enemy, sawed them and made them into mines. After success, he spread them widely throughout the Cu Chi battlefield. That is why many people call him "trip wire hero" or "tank destroyer".

People's Armed Forces Hero To Van Duc shared: "Life underground in those days was very difficult, but because we had to fight, we tried to overcome all difficulties. Without the tunnels to cover us, the local guerrilla forces could not have stayed there. Watching this film, you will see how the tunnels covered us and created conditions for us to fight the enemy."

Ms. Nguyen Thanh Nhan (born in 1998) shared: “There are images that only appear briefly on the screen, but they clearly depict the hardships that the soldiers went through underground. Today's young generation always remembers the contributions of their fathers and grandfathers, building and protecting the Fatherland with the most practical actions.”
