The 2025 National Traditional Boat Racing Championship will be organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports in coordination with the Vietnam Rowing Federation, under the authorization of the Vietnam Sports Department.

This year's competition brought together 780 coaches and athletes from 19 provinces and cities nationwide, including: An Giang, Bac Ninh, Ca Mau, Can Tho, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi , Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Lam Dong, Ninh Binh, Phu Tho, Quang Ninh, Quang Tri, the Army, Thai Nguyen, Thanh Hoa, Tuyen Quang, and Vinh Long. This is one of the practical activities implementing the "National Movement for Physical Training Following the Example of the Great President Ho Chi Minh," while also encouraging the practice of water sports and preserving and promoting the traditional cultural and sporting identity of the nation.
More than just a competition, the tournament also serves as an opportunity to test and evaluate the training of canoeing and traditional boat athletes nationwide, thereby selecting outstanding individuals to represent Vietnam at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand. The event also contributes to improving the organizational and operational skills of referees and is an important preparation for the 10th National Sports Congress in 2026.
In the junior, U21, and U23 canoeing championships, athletes are divided into three age groups with a total of nearly 100 events. The U18 group (ages 15 to 18) has 32 events in distances of 1,000m, 500m, and 200m for both men and women, using two types of boats: canoe and kayak, from K1, K2, K4 to C1, C2, C4. The U21 group has 31 events, including singles, doubles, and mixed events, while the U23 group comprises 34 events, diverse in both boat types and challenging in terms of technique and endurance.
From August 20th to 22nd, the National Traditional Boat Racing Championship will take place with 18 events for men, women, and mixed teams, in both 10-rower and 20-rower boats, across three distances: 1,000m, 500m, and 200m. Athletes will compete in qualifying rounds, semi-finals, and finals in an atmosphere promising excitement and drama.

With a large number of high-quality young athletes and a large-scale organization, the 2025 tournament is expected to create a strong impetus for the Canoeing and Traditional Boat Racing movements nationwide, while also delivering spectacular competitions that meet the expectations of a large number of fans.
