Swimmer Huy Hoang sets a super record at the 33rd SEA Games.

"The Vietnamese otter" swam unopposed, leaving the rest far behind to cross the finish line with a time of 15 minutes and 19.58 seconds. With this achievement, Huy Hoang conquered the super record of winning the same event five times in a row at the SEA Games. This is something that even the legendary Anh Vien has never achieved.

Immediately after Hoang, Nguyen Tuan Anh accelerated strongly in the final meters to win the silver medal, completing a convincing "1-2" finish for the Vietnamese swimming team.

The Vietnamese swimming team is making a strong breakthrough with 5 gold medals in just 3 days of competition. Previously, Tran Hung Nguyen (men's 200m individual medley), Nguyen Viet Tuong - Tran Van Nguyen Quoc - Nguyen Huy Hoang - Tran Hung Nguyen (men's 4x200m freestyle relay), Pham Thanh Bao (100m breaststroke) and Nguyen Quang Thuan (men's 400m individual medley) successively brought home gold medals for the Vietnamese delegation.

Huy Hoang also has the prospect of becoming Vietnam's most successful gold medalist in a single Games, having already achieved this at the 31st SEA Games with 5 gold medals. At the 33rd SEA Games, the goal of 3-4 gold medals is considered achievable, especially as Hoang continues to maintain consistent performance in his strongest events.

On the evening of February 11th, he and his teammates brilliantly finished first in the 4x200m freestyle relay. In addition, Hoang also competed in the 400m freestyle, an event in which he won a gold medal for the third consecutive SEA Games. Experts believe that if he continues to swim at his best, Huy Hoang remains the strongest contender.

Furthermore, the swimmer from Quang Binh province also has the potential to compete for medals in the 10km individual sea event and the 4x1,500m relay. Although unpredictable due to the nature of outdoor competition, Hoang is still considered a strong contender for the gold medal.
