The family of Ms. Bach Thi Huong (born in 1987, residing in Thinh Cuong village, Duc Tho commune) has been a poor household for many years. She alone struggles to raise her daughter who has a bone disease, and she herself has just fallen and broken her arm. Faced with Ms. Huong's difficult situation, the Farmers' Association of Duc Tho commune in coordination with the Farmers' Support Center of Ha Tinh province conducted a survey, assessment and decided to support a breeding sow livelihood model worth 16 million VND. The "fishing rod" was given in a timely manner, helping Ms. Huong have more motivation to gradually stabilize her life.

Ms. Huong confided: “When I heard that the mother and her child were supported to give birth, I was very happy. Not only was the cow provided, the commune officials also instructed me on how to care for and prevent diseases according to each stage of the animal's development. I will try to take care of it so that I can soon have an income to cover my living expenses, and gradually escape poverty.”
Not only Ms. Huong, 3 other poor households in the villages of Dong Hoa, Yen Cuong, Dong Lac were also supported with breeding cows, committed to maintaining and developing the model for at least 5 years.
“In order to join hands with the government to carry out social security activities and care for the poor, in addition to providing livelihood models, the Farmers' Association of the commune also gave 10 gifts to members in difficult circumstances; organized 2 training courses on mushroom growing techniques for more than 150 members... With the support of organizations and unions, many households have been motivated, assured in production, and gradually escaped poverty" - Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tieu, President of the Farmers' Association of Duc Tho commune shared.

After storms No. 5 and No. 10, hundreds of households in Duc Tho commune had their houses blown off or completely collapsed. For poor and near-poor households, "getting back up" after a natural disaster is extremely difficult. Therefore, as soon as the storm passed, the Party Committee and the government of Duc Tho commune quickly reviewed and developed a support plan to help families gradually overcome the damage and stabilize their lives.
Ms. Doan Thi The (born in 1958, residing in Hung Dung village, Duc Tho commune) shared: “My family is poor, I have no other source of income except for the support of 750,000 VND/month from the social security regime. Storm No. 5 made landfall, causing my house to lose its roof completely and become seriously degraded. Thanks to the help of organizations and unions, I received 60 million VND to build a house. Along with that, the villagers supported me with working days, it is expected that in the next few months, I will have a new house to stabilize my life and soon escape poverty.”

It is known that in the period of 2021 - 2025, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Duc Tho commune has mobilized over 1.4 billion VND along with social security resources, the Fund for the Poor, the Relief Fund and other sources to build and repair 41 houses, support 75 livelihood models, and give over 1,000 gifts to poor households, near-poor households and households in difficult circumstances. Up to now, the locality still has 178 poor households (accounting for 1.89%) and 156 near-poor households (accounting for 1.65%).
Mr. Nguyen Dang Quan - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Duc Tho commune informed: "With the goal of mobilizing the Fund for the Poor to reach at least 200 million VND/year; supporting the construction and repair of 5 houses/year; 100% of poor and near-poor households are supported, helped, visited and given gifts on holidays and Tet... Immediately after the stable operation of the 2-level local government, Duc Tho commune has implemented many practical activities to ensure social security in the area such as: livelihood support; housing construction; training, vocational training...
During the peak month of "For the poor", the whole commune mobilized about 300 million VND in socialized resources to carry out social security activities; in addition, mobilizing resources from benefactors and children living far from home, it is expected to support each poor household with 1 million VND by the end of November.

Practical, meaningful activities and flexibility in implementing social security policies in Duc Tho commune have contributed to supporting the poor and disadvantaged to stabilize their lives, "leaving no one behind", and gradually promoting socio- economic development in the area. This is also a meaningful action program, contributing to concretizing and bringing the Resolution of the Ha Tinh Provincial Party Congress for the 2025 - 2030 term into life.
