On her personal Instagram page, Miss Universe Vietnam 2024 announced that she had lost the national costume she intended to wear in the semi-final and was making efforts to find it.

The Miss Universe Vietnam team has reported that Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen's luggage was lost at the hotel. Her national costume was kept in a separate area, not in the contestant's room. It was only discovered during the dress rehearsal that it was missing. Ky Duyen has informed her contestant manager and will provide a response tomorrow.

Speaking to VietNamNet , designer Nguyen Minh Cong, the professional advisor for the national costume at Miss Universe Vietnam, said that the outfit, which includes a Nhat Binh dress and a butterfly parasol, was neatly packed in a suitcase and may have been mistaken for the luggage of other representatives.

Nguyen Minh Cong shared that the meticulously handcrafted outfit, while not having a specific monetary value, plays a special role in Ky Duyen's appearance at the upcoming competition. The designer also stated that the outfit doesn't require complex finishing touches; it just needs to be worn. However, he still had to source the details to ensure it accurately reflects the spirit of the collection.

According to the schedule, the contestants will compete in the semi-final on November 15th (Mexico time). Initial information indicates that the evening gown competition will not be included in the semi-final, according to the new format announced by the Miss Universe Organization (MUO).

However, according to some accounts from the rehearsals, after several changes of decision, it seems MUO has listened to the wishes of its fans.

The Miss Universe 2024 contestants couldn't hide their joy upon learning that the evening gown segment would remain in the semi-finals and hoped there would be no further changes to this decision.
