International music standards from the LCME examination system in Vietnam.

LCM ( London College of Music ) is a music academy affiliated with the University of West London (United Kingdom) . It offers high-quality and prestigious programs, and its diplomas and certificates are widely recognized internationally . The LCM certificate system is part of the UK's RQF (Regional Qualifications Framework), making it valuable for study abroad applications, scholarship consideration, and career development in the field of music.

The LCM 2025 competition continues to affirm its position as one of the largest international music competitions in Vietnam. Nearly 1,500 contestants from over 50 music centers and schools across the country, from Hanoi , Hue, Da Nang to Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City, participated. Students competed in various subjects: Piano, Guitar, Vocal Performance, Music Theory, Electronic Keyboard, and many other performance specialties.

Beyond simply assessing abilities, the exam also helps students access international training methods, develop systematic musical thinking, and gain experience performing in front of foreign judges. The exam's prestige is guaranteed by the direct participation of the judging panel from the London College of Music. British music education experts adhere to a rigorous, transparent, and fair scoring process according to international standards in evaluating the abilities of Vietnamese candidates.

The quality of Vietnamese students continues to be affirmed with impressive results, with 670 candidates achieving Distinction (excellent scores), accounting for 55% of the total number of participants. Among these, 85 candidates scored above 95/100 – a score demonstrating outstanding ability in both technique and musical expression. These figures are not only a source of pride for the individual students and their families but also a testament to the increasingly high quality of teaching at schools within the Viet Thuong Music system, as well as partner music centers and affiliated facilities.

The LCM diploma and certificate awarding ceremony was held in Hanoi on December 6th and in Ho Chi Minh City on December 7th, honoring students at all levels from Pre, Step 1-2, Grade 1-8 to professional Diplomas (DipLCM, ALCM, LLCM, FLCM in performance for each discipline). The event also served as an opportunity to reflect on the students' diligent training journey and the support of the teaching staff nationwide.

Standardized training program from basic to professional level.

The LCM qualification framework is standardized according to international standards, encompassing levels: Foundation, Long-Term Intermediate, Intermediate, University, and Postgraduate (Pre-Preparatory, Step, Grades 1–8, and Diplomas). In Vietnam, this entire framework is implemented through Viet Thuong Music Education, ensuring that candidates in Vietnam are assessed according to the same standards as candidates in the UK and other countries. LCM certificates and diplomas are valid for applications to universities in the UK, as well as other music schools in Europe and America.

In Vietnam, LCM annually conducts examinations for certificates in music theory and music performance. At a higher level, they offer university degree examinations in instrumental music teaching and music performance.

LCM program in Vietnam.

Viet Thuong Music continues to play a bridging role between LCM and domestic music education systems through teacher training and professional development activities; organizing professional seminars; implementing training programs on teaching methods according to international standards; and gradually standardizing facilities in classrooms and examination rooms.

Representatives from both organizations stated that in the future, the program will continue to expand in terms of exam scale and improve training quality, aiming to gradually popularize international music standards among students in Vietnam. Through a systematic training and evaluation system, students will not only develop their musical abilities and performance skills but also cultivate their capacity for international integration. This will build a solid foundation for them to confidently enter a global learning and working environment, while simultaneously preserving and spreading national cultural values throughout their journey to adulthood.
