“Golden opportunity” for handicrafts
As a successful handicraft business unit with 5-star OCOP products, Quang Thuy Wooden Chopsticks Production and Trading Cooperative (Nam Ba Don commune) expects stronger progress in the coming time when the province's cultural industry is interested and focused.
Mr. Le Thanh Trien, Director of the Cooperative, said: The Cooperative has many strengths in developing handicrafts. These are high-quality wood materials, ensuring the production of safe and durable wooden chopsticks; traditional production techniques combined with modern ones, applying export lacquer technology, helping to increase productivity and product quality; diverse designs with wooden chopsticks, ladles, spoons, spatulas, spatulas and kitchenware sets produced using high-quality lacquer-organic lacquer technology, meeting export standards, meeting the needs of domestic and foreign customers.
In addition, there are large export markets such as Japan, Korea, Germany and is expanding to other potential countries. The Cooperative also actively cooperates with local tourism, creates unique souvenir products, opens booths to display quality OCOP products and contributes to promoting Vietnamese culture. In particular, the Cooperative also creates jobs for disadvantaged people, poor households, near-poor households, people with mild disabilities and increases income for many local people, joining hands to develop a sustainable socio-economy .

In the coming time, along with expanding the export market, the Cooperative is focusing on improving and upgrading machinery to create high-quality chopsticks and kitchenware according to lacquer standards, meeting the needs of consumers. Promoting research and development of new products, combining tradition and modernity to make souvenirs for domestic and foreign tourists and actively participating in exhibitions, fairs, product promotion activities, and enhancing brand recognition are also solutions that the Cooperative will focus on. At the same time, the Cooperative will make efforts to coordinate and test the implementation of tourism experiences and souvenir products to attract potential tourists. With these efforts, the Cooperative hopes to contribute to the development of Quang Tri province's cultural industry and improve the lives of local people.
“The Cooperative hopes to be supported in expanding the export market for wooden chopsticks, especially in “difficult” markets. The province needs to promote investment in infrastructure, such as building warehouses and transportation routes to support production and export activities. At the same time, there needs to be support in terms of capital, training, human resource development as well as branding for Quang Thuy wooden chopsticks in particular, and handicraft products in general,” Mr. Le Thanh Trien added.
Not only Quang Thuy Wooden Chopsticks Production and Trading Cooperative, many other cooperatives, cooperative groups, and handicraft production establishments in the province also expect this to be a "golden opportunity" for a breakthrough in development once the resolution comes into effect. Because Quang Tri is the "land" of many potential handicrafts, such as: Carpentry, carving, weaving, rattan, conical hats, brocade weaving of ethnic minorities...
Promoting the application of digital technology
Promoting heritage values through digital technology is considered one of the effective solutions to create a strong breakthrough for the cultural industry. Grasping this trend, a number of practical solutions have been previously implemented by the former Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces. For example, in Quang Binh, the "Quang Binh Digital Museum" project has been implemented since 2023 with the coordination between the Department of Culture and Sports of the province and Mobifone Quang Binh. Initially, the "Quang Binh Digital Museum" software (phase 1) has brought the museum space to a digital platform with 3 virtual exhibition spaces according to themes.
In the old Quang Tri province, the project "Quang Tri cultural heritage digital banking solution to support smart tourism" implemented by the Department of Science and Technology to digitize Quang Tri cultural heritage has shown the right and pioneering directions to contribute to the digital transformation of heritage.
Mr. Phan Tuan Anh, former Deputy Head of the Department of Technology and Innovation Management, Department of Science and Technology of the former Quang Tri province, project manager, commented: The Heritage Digital Bank is a comprehensive digital data system including images, maps, 2D/3D videos, VR-360 virtual reality models and AR augmented reality of historical relics, scenic spots, and unique festivals in the province. Thereby, it not only supports conservation and tourism planning, but also helps visitors access heritage in a new, more attractive and convenient way; at the same time, it is a tool to support education.

However, reality shows that the heritage digitization roadmap still faces many difficulties, requiring large investment in funding and human resources with expertise in both the cultural and digital fields. In particular, after the merger, the province has a diverse system of historical and cultural relics, a rich "treasure" of intangible cultural heritage, requiring the digitization process to be long-term, with clear orientation and solutions. Only then can we fully exploit the potential strengths of heritage in developing cultural industry. To address this challenge, the resolution identifying the importance of the task of developing cultural industry will open up new, breakthrough directions for efforts to apply digital technology and scientific and technological achievements in promoting cultural tourism, museum work, exhibition organization, cinema, etc.
There needs to be a specialized resolution on CNVH.
Handicrafts and cultural heritage are two of many fields that the Quang Tri cultural industry hopes will create a strong breakthrough in the coming time as soon as the resolution is implemented into life. Besides, there are other prominent fields of the cultural industry, such as: Performing arts, cultural tourism, culinary culture...
Therefore, Dr. Tran Tu Luc, Head of the Faculty of Economics and Tourism, Quang Binh University emphasized: One of the things that needs to be done right now is to build a specialized resolution on the development of the cultural industry and build a project to develop this industry. In which, focus on organizing development space, orienting human resources, incentive mechanisms, strengthening communication, promotion, building the brand of Quang Tri cultural industry...
"After the merger with open development space, most of the fields of the cultural industry of Quang Tri province have the potential to develop, make their mark in the homeland, and contribute to exploiting the "gold mine" that is still open," Dr. Tran Tu Luc affirmed.
To strongly and comprehensively develop the culture and people of Quang Tri, the Action Program of the Provincial Party Executive Committee to implement the Resolution of the 1st Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030 identifies specific tasks and solutions: Effectively implement the national target program on cultural development; promote the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage values associated with tourism development; develop policies for cultural industry development; build "Quang Tri Digital Culture" for the period 2026-2030; continue to plan and preserve, renovate and restore relics...; strengthen socialization, encourage organizations, individuals and businesses to invest in cultural and sports activities; develop high-quality cultural industry products and sports services...
