By mastering 5G technology, students will master 6G technology.

Students become a creative force, dare to think, dare to do and proactively master technology to contribute to building a digital future in Vietnam's 5G/6G mobile network technology.

The Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association, the Vietnam Student Association in Ho Chi Minh City and the Vietnam Student Association in Singapore recently coordinated with Saigon Technology University (STU) to organize a student scientific conference on 5G/6G mobile network technology.

The workshop with the theme "Vietnamese students pioneer in researching and developing 6G mobile network technology" took place on the afternoon of November 17.

Nguyen Dang Khoa, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnamese Student Association, said that 5G/6G networks bring three new capabilities: ultra-low latency to help robots, autonomous vehicles, and remote surgeons respond instantly; high connection density to allow millions of urban sensors to transmit data at the same time; and ultra-wide bandwidth.

“We hope to create an open academic forum where students, lecturers, scientists and businesses can meet, exchange and share knowledge, propose new research and application directions, and contribute to shaping and promoting Vietnam to master core telecommunications infrastructure in the digital age,” said Mr. Khoa.

Principal of Saigon University of Technology, Associate Professor Dr. Cao Hao Thi said that the 5G/6G mobile network technology student network was established to create an academic playground and a connection environment between students, experts, and businesses.

At the same time, encourage research, innovation, and start-ups in the high-tech field and build a high-quality human resource team for national digital transformation.

MSc. Le Anh Tien expressed that the conference contained a mission, a weighty "order" of the future. This is not a slogan but an affirmation of the student's role as the subject. If 4G connects people to people, 5G connects everything to everything, then 6G is a revolution of convergence and intelligence.

It is a world where AI is organically integrated into the core of the network, where the boundaries between real and virtual are blurred by “digital twins”, and where technology begins to feel and think with humans. “To carry out that pioneering mission, students cannot go alone. They need a map, a compass to navigate a new ocean of knowledge,” said Mr. Tien.

When students become the core of leading 5G/6G network technology

Dr. Tran Tuan Anh, Head of the Department of Technology and Services (Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Science and Technology ), said that digital infrastructure shortens processing time, increases accuracy and opens up many utilities such as online learning or remote medical examination and treatment.

Digital transformation enables operations to happen almost instantly thanks to online payments and AI-integrated systems that automate and optimize processes.

"5G is the fifth generation of mobile networks, commercialized from 2020 and aiming for 6G around 2030. This technology has extremely low latency, wide bandwidth and high-density connectivity, creating an environment for people and devices to connect continuously and without limits," said Mr. Tuan Anh.

Dr. Tran Tuan Anh emphasized that students must master theory, proactively expand and update knowledge, then put it into practice to identify technological limitations.

"From that foundation, students can conduct in-depth research, create and master products. Self-study and self-research are key factors, so students need to make the most of tools to exchange, expand knowledge and nurture creative thinking," said Mr. Tuan Anh.

From the Singapore bridge, Dr. Vu Thai Hoc (VSB, Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic) said that young scientists now have many opportunities to learn and develop thanks to the young teaching staff, strong research communities and support from the State's breakthrough resolutions on science, technology, innovation and digital transformation.

To effectively access science, students need to improve their foreign languages, programming skills and proactively connect with lecturers and labs.

"Participating in research competitions, conferences or recruitment and consulting programs from businesses will help students consolidate their knowledge and thinking," said Mr. Thai Hoc.

The event is part of a series of 11 national student science seminars, associated with strategic technology groups in line with Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation and Decision No. 1131/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on strategic technology and strategic technology products.
