The Vietnamese women's volleyball team made an excellent comeback against Thailand.

Despite having the home field advantage, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team did not start well and was dominated by Thailand for most of the first set. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team lost the set 17-25. In the second set, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team played better and at one point led their opponents by 5 points. However, Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team suddenly lost the second set in a row.

Being pushed into a corner, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team did not flinch but played more explosively to defeat Thailand in sets 3 and 4. The scores were 25-17 and 25-22 respectively. The two stars Bich Tuyen and Tran Thi Thanh Thuy were the key factors in the spectacular comeback of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team. The home team continued to show their mettle in the deciding set to win 16-14. Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen scored the decisive point of the match with a powerful smash, bringing home a historic victory.

This is the first time the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has won a stage of the SEA V-League and defeated their arch-rivals Thailand. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team avenge their defeat in stage 1 of the SEA V-League. Thailand has always been a tough opponent for Vietnamese women in the history of Southeast Asian tournaments. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team has suffered 11 consecutive defeats in the final match against Thailand at the SEA Games.

On the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) rankings, Thailand is ranked 21st, while Vietnam is ranked 22nd. Vietnam women's volleyball has significantly improved its ranking thanks to many positive results in recent times. The memorable victory over arch-rival Thailand will certainly help the Vietnamese girls gain more confidence to conquer the gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games taking place at the end of this year.
