Huong Giang's grandparents established a singing troupe early to serve the people and soldiers. Recognizing her talent, musician An Thuyen encouraged her to go to Hanoi to study singing to pursue a professional career.
When she was only 21 years old, Huong Giang volunteered to be a singer for the Art Troupe of Military Region 9. Six years working there and seven years at the Army Music and Dance Theater helped her accumulate valuable experience.
"The most frightening thing about teaching vocal music is the lack of experience because the knowledge in books is only a part. I am lucky to have experienced many artistic environments to accumulate, learn, and put data from life into lectures for students," Huong Giang confided.
In 1998, she won second prize in the Spring and Soldier Solo Competition with the song "Uncle's Advice Before He Left". "At that time, I did not put pressure on myself about exams but expressed my feelings with all my heart. Perhaps those feelings touched many people," she recalled.
The important turning point in Huong Giang's career was the role of heroine Le Thi Rang (Ms. Su) in the play Two Mothers by musician An Thuyen 15 years ago. "At that time, I was just over 30 years old, still young in terms of career. Before taking on the role, many people thought I was wearing a shirt that was too big, but as a native of the Central region, I always told myself that the more difficult the situation, the more I had to try to overcome it," Huong Giang shared.
Spreading the love of revolutionary music to the young generation
With over 30 years of artistic activities, Meritorious Artist Huong Giang has constantly strived to renew revolutionary music and folk songs. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification, she introduced the album Unification Songs consisting of 50 songs as a tribute to the heroic martyrs and heroic Vietnamese mothers. Huong Giang also published a book on Teaching folk songs for vocal music students at the Military University of Culture and Arts.
Not only performing, she also directed many major art programs. The most memorable was the program celebrating the 50th anniversary of implementing President Ho Chi Minh 's will.
Meritorious Artist Huong Giang is preparing to release 3 new MVs with the theme of women in war, and is nurturing a project to sing revolutionary and folk songs with about 7 songs with simple guitar accompaniment.
Happy with journalist husband
Journalist Vuong Xuan Nguyen - husband of Meritorious Artist Huong Giang - plays an important role in her artistic career.
"He is a political journalist, his perspective and direction make me feel very secure. In every program, he supports me a lot," Huong Giang confided. In work, her husband always supports the female artist in terms of scripts, artistic ideas and media direction.

Although initially thinking that journalists would be difficult and strict, Meritorious Artist Huong Giang was surprised to find that her husband was very artistic, not strict with his wife's way of dressing, liked new things and was open to modern trends.
Her husband not only supports her in her work but is also a source of motivation for Huong Giang to overcome pressure. "Sometimes I am a bit lazy but he always urges and reminds me. I feel very happy and have more energy to work," Huong Giang said.
Both husband and wife like to work, even when resting. When having free time, Meritorious Artist Huong Giang likes to play the guitar and sing at home. "I don't have many hobbies, I don't like to travel, I don't like to go out or eat much. If I have free time, I will sing and play the guitar, that's also a form of entertainment that I like," she shared. Meritorious Artist Huong Giang's husband always takes advantage of his time to work online effectively, even when he is drinking iced tea or waiting for his wife to work.
