The camp was doused with gasoline and set on fire, the construction manager suffered severe burns.

On June 9th, Thong Nhat General Hospital reported that it is currently receiving and treating a patient with severe burns.

Earlier, at around 2 AM on June 8th, patient NHĐ (born in 1980, a construction manager in Trang Bom district, Dong Nai province) was admitted to the hospital with severe burns to his face, neck, both forearms, and both lower legs.

According to Mr. D.'s account, he came from Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Nai to work as a construction site manager in Trang Bom district. Late on June 7th, he and others were sleeping in the construction site's makeshift shelter when they suddenly discovered a fire. At that moment, Mr. D. ran to the construction site's water tank to put out the fire and saw a person running towards a motorbike in the distance – Mr. LND (born in 1988, a construction worker) – suspected of dousing the place with gasoline and setting it on fire.

As a result, Mr. D. suffered severe burns and was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment, while another person sleeping with him in the camp also suffered minor burns and is being treated at the Trang Bom District Medical Center.

Dr. Nguyen Tuong Quang, Head of the Orthopedics and Burns Department at Thong Nhat General Hospital, said that the patient suffered severe burns to approximately 30% of their body, particularly on their legs, head, and neck. Due to the severity of the burns, the patient is severely dehydrated, so medical staff are focusing on fluid and electrolyte replacement. Currently, daily dressing changes and care are necessary to prevent infection. Physical therapy will also begin now to prevent scarring and contractures later.
