Lao Cai has 16 constituencies for people's council elections at all levels.

On December 4, the Lao Cai Provincial Election Committee held its first meeting and decided to establish the Committee for the Election of National Assembly Deputies and the People's Council of Lao Cai Province for the 2026-2030 term.

At the conference, in addition to announcing the establishment of Steering Committees at all levels, Lao Cai established three sub-committees and a working group to assist the Election Committee.

With the number of National Assembly deputies allocated by the Central Government is 10 deputies (4 deputies introduced by the Central Government, 6 deputies introduced by localities); the number of Provincial People's Council deputies is 61 deputies, the number of People's Council deputies at the commune level is determined to be 2,105 deputies.

Based on the characteristics of terrain, traffic infrastructure, ethnicity, customs and practices, and physical facilities of communes, Lao Cai established 16 constituencies for the election of people's councils at all levels.

According to statistics up to this point, the number of voters in Lao Cai province is estimated at more than 1,178,000 voters, residing in 2,906 villages and residential groups.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Anh assessed that the early implementation of the election of deputies to the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2030 term is of great importance, so members of the Election Council need to do well in all aspects from building and implementing the election work, checking, supervising, printing documents, forms, using seals...; at the same time, doing well the work of training, consultation, introducing candidates to run for election, ensuring democracy and compliance with the law; promptly detecting and handling newly arising issues of political security in the area, especially in mountainous areas, remote areas, areas where ethnic minorities live...
